Broken wiper arm

Broken wiper arm

I'm picking up my car today after getting the above problem fixed. I used the wipers for the first time last week when it finally rained here and they were fine. Two days later I did a quick wipe after the trees spattered water on the windshield as I was leaving home, and the left wiper seemed to skip a bit and then just completely broke at the mount - started wiping completely out of sync with the other - even managed to get it to fly completely off the windshield and come to rest against the driver side door. Has anyone else seen this? I'm wondering if this is just a random mechanical failure or if the arm somehow stuck to the windshield enough to break the mount at the base when the motor tried to activate it...

Mine haven't broken, but I did notice a couple of weeks ago that the wipers visibly and audibly skip/stutter when they're coming back down along the lower part of the windshield. I attribute it to the heaviness of the wipers and the shallow slope of the windshield. This would certainly put a strain on the wipers.

Yes, mine did the same exact thing. Tesla fixed it quickly and it has been fine ever since.

And the ranger commented that he had seen one other that broke in the same place.

@mclary - Posting this kind of issue here helps all of us be prepared for what can occur. Apparently more than one person has had this come up, and I appreciate knowing about it. Don't be so critical or TM-defensive. Thanks kWh Pwr.

PD is correct. I intend to check out my windshield wiper hardware tomorrow to see if anything looks awry. I appreciate "kWh pwr.s" heads up.
