Doesn't matter to me as long as Tesla provides Matte Black :)

Why are you speaking so loud?

matt80206 | August 11, 2016

The Matte Black looked awesome... two thumbs up there, not brown (think south park)

millsdmb | August 11, 2016

I feel like I'd need to see the matte black first, whereas any of the other colors I could order and be happy with sight unseen.

PaceyWhitter | August 11, 2016

Honestly, I doubt that brown will be available. The S was originally available in brown but that color was discontinued due to low demand.

Red Sage ca us | August 11, 2016

Yet, the Brown version of the Tesla Model S is among one of the most stunningly beautiful to behold. In the late afternoon sunlight here in California it seemed to be alive with depth and motion. Reminded me a lot of caramel and root beer as it reflected light in such a spectacular fashion, looking good enough to eat, or drink, or at least lick for a while.

Please do a google search on

paint protection film matte finish

Yes, you can get a matte finish on any color your car happens to be.

sbeggs | August 11, 2016

Ha ha Red Sage...

tedirelan | August 11, 2016

Electric Blue. I know, the word play, but it'd be perfect.

PaceyWhitter | August 11, 2016

Red sage,
There is a brown one near me. Always did think it looked nice. Too bad about the demand. I like the green too (in pictures). I do think that the S colors are to limiting right now. There are red and blue. The rest are shades of gray.

d.r.coursol | August 11, 2016

I know it sounds strange but there was a motorcycle builder named Indian Larry who built a motorcycle painted in a root beer color with heavy metal flake which I thought looked great. Originally I was going to buy a Audi and get it painted but then came to my senses with reserving a Tesla M3.... Playing with colors can be fun but it will kill you on resale.... which is why most cars are black, silver, and white. I once owned a Pontiac that was Ox Blood Red in color which lent towards a purple tint.... to this day I haven't seen another car with a classic, yet unusual color.

dakar2001 | August 11, 2016

Copper with a Brown vegan interior and Orange stitch would look cool!

Red Sage ca us | August 11, 2016

The great thing about the Model S in Brown was that it looked so... RICH. It was not overdone at all, but just brought forth deep emotions of... WANT. I was very much stunned to see it that one time. Back then there wasn't a 'gold' color for Model S, but the Brown filled the niche very, very well.

d.r.coursol: I think that the reason why most cars are black, white, and various shades of gray/grey is a reflection of the fact traditional automobile manufacturers have a very limited pool of Customers -- 'independent franchised dealerships' -- and those guys have no imagination. The cars they sell are the ones they have on the lot. And they dare not order orange, purple, or lime green for anything that doesn't have the word 'HEMI' emblazoned upon it. Here in Los Angeles it is mighty depressing the number of monochromatic cars that surround me on the freeway.

I really wanted Matte Black, but I'm reconsidering, just incase 90% of them end up being the same color as mine. (Doubt this would happen, but I really wish there was a cool color that you could only get if you have ludicrous mode).

dimitri.anast | August 12, 2016

Am I really the only one that is set on white? There is just something about a clean white Tesla that does it for me.

PhillyGal | August 12, 2016

@Pacey beat me to it.

Brown was a thing. Demand was no where near "great."
Model 3 will also have to focus on ease of production so I wouldn't be surprised to see a very limited color palette at first.

PhillyGal | August 12, 2016

@tommyalexandersb - My eyes play tricks on me regarding the matte black. I've seen spy shots of a car that appeared matte black but at the event in person, the matte car was very clearly a matte silver/gray. I posted a short video of it on YouTube if you search Electric Jen.

Either way, that color was HOT HOT HOT.

"Playing with colors can be fun but it will kill you on resale"

Good thing I am not planning on ever reselling my Model ≡.

Thank you kindly.

Red Sage ca us | August 12, 2016

topher: +1! Exactly.

OtisR | August 12, 2016

My favorite crayon color as a kid was "Burnt Sienna". That would be cool.

amyeleache | August 13, 2016

I have always thought a opalescent version of this color #6600cc (violet-blue) would be beautiful... it is close to the blue shade that is already standard in the Tesla's, just a little more red.

Red Sage ca us | August 14, 2016

I've always been partial to #CD0000 [205, 0, 0]... Which is unfortunately not NTSC Safe... So, #CC0000 [204, 0, 0] would have to do, I guess.

White and wrap it any of the offered colors/textures[carbon fiber or chrome], change it when ever, mix and match your own designs.

Green, British Racing Green

dave.m.mcdonough | November 7, 2016

I think gunmetal grey with a splash of copperish brown is a great color. White looks classic though. It'll be a tough choice next year when the options are revealed.

tizianorecchi | November 7, 2016

Can we have matte black please?

Can we have matte black please?

cloudohana | November 7, 2016

The thing I noticed about the matte black during the reveal test drive videos was how every. single. finger. print. showed. No thanks! My votes are for purple (eggplant), aqua, teal, green (sage), or orange (dark pumpkin or copper). In other words - color - not boring shades of grey.

Nexxus | November 8, 2016

50 shades of grey?

danielebernd | November 8, 2016

I will ask my wife and children.
The colour will be a "family decision"

dave.m.mcdonough | November 8, 2016

It's true, matte black is terribly difficult to keep clean. It's like a chalkboard.
You know it's played-out if a manufacturer offers it..

bernard.holbrook | November 8, 2016

I would love to get my T3 in Teal but I doubt that colour will be offered. I guess I'll settle on Black or Silver.

KP in NPT | November 8, 2016

I actually would love teal too - I've seen it on Porsche and it looks awesome.

KP in NPT | November 8, 2016

The dark teal metallic. Tan seats. Great looking.

cloudohana | November 9, 2016

@Nexxus Ha ha

@mp1156 I would buy that teal color - it's sweet. Like the tan interior too.

I've always chosen more exciting colors for my cars. Makes them much easier to find in the parking lot :) My current car is purple - 12 yrs later I still love the color of it.

dd.micsol | November 10, 2016

I want gold leaf like that lambo.
can't paste image here. Site won't let me or it's my web browser security settings.
just google gold lambo and you'll see it.

migueltulha | November 11, 2016

Electric Blue for me!

Lammert | November 12, 2016

All Black Edition. No chrome on my car!

RLHanna11 | November 12, 2016

If you don't want to deal with finger prints on a matt paint job, you can wrap the car in XPEL Stealth self healing paint protection film. It has a ten year warranty and looks amazing.

ColoDriver | November 22, 2016

One, it's a beautiful dark metallic blue from House of Kolor with a bit of purple to keep it from turning black. Two, because it's really fun to say burple. Try it with me. Burple. Wasn't that fun? Yes it was!
