Cost to add a subwoofer and amp to a Model 3 SR+ ?

I have a Model 3 SR+ and want to add an amp and subwoofer (similar to the premium models). It looks like the cost of the equipment won't be too bad, but the labor may be the issue. There's no box and no harness back there. I'm also still not sure where they would connect the amp. Some posts say tap a 12V battery under the rear seat, some say use the 12V battery in the frunk, and others are recommending tapping into the speakers.

Is this a pretty standard install for a car stereo company? I'd like to just do a little research, pick a couple of companies from Yelp, and get some price quotes. I'm in San Diego. For most cars this is a very, very standard thing to do I would think. But for a Tesla Model 3 SR+ with no wiring and no existing sub in the trunk, then this might be a lot more complicated? I read another post saying this could be about 4 days of labor.

Do not tap the underseat 12v line it will shoot out error code. You'll have to run a line to the fuse box or to the front battery.

Cost, it's up to you how many watts and the quality of the sub, could be $75 or $750.

For wiring you'll tap into a pre existing line for the signal.

Expect to shell out around 1K. I am getting a subwoofer installed in my SR+ from a local car stereo company. If you do it yourself, you can save around 400 for the labor.

Good to have these cost estimates in this forum as another factor for prospective owners to weigh against getting the LR model that includes the Premium sound system.

Fantasy Motorsports in Thousand Oaks. Ask for Steve and tell him you were referred by Ameet. He's a great guy.

Thanks ameet! Are they putting the subwoofer in the trunk? I was wondering if you could tell me which power source they are connecting to. Is it the 12V battery up front?

I am getting it done next week, I will ask the installer and let you know.

Yes, please keep us posted. I'm interested in adding a subwoofer as well.

When sub-woofers first came out, and operated at high volumes, they had a tendency to crack welds and loosen nuts and bolts.
Same conditions will probably still have the same result.
Resale value of the vehicle will be nil.

@ameet - thanks for recomending Fantasy Motorsports. I went to the Northridge location and worked with Paul. Had a Sub, Amp, and a convertor module installed. They did excellent work!!

Rlwlr, unless we're talking about packing 4 18's and 1000W amp in the trunk, I think we'll be OK.
