Front Hood not closing all the way

Front Hood not closing all the way

I apologize if the links don't work but this is my first attempt to post anything and it took me about an hour do this email with photo links.

The car is great and I realize that there are growing pains with any company and the service reps have been very professional. However, within a week of receiving my car I realized the front hood didn't work properly. I noticed it didn't close all the way with about a 3/4 inch gap and wouldn't open properly without some due diligence. It took about 2 months to order parts and when they did fix it, it opens properly now, but the hood has about 1/2 gap from closing all the way. The service guys said they called headquarters but aren't too sure if they know how to fix it or if it is even under warranty.

Looking the side view, Tesla still has some work to do. Your local guys may have no clue how to fix it. Be persistent, but nice, until they kick it up to someone who understands the trouble.

Be persistent. Tell service guys you posted on the forum. They will fix it.

I would send the story and pic to amacdonald@teslamotors.com. He is in charge of Body Panel Repair program. That should do the trick.

The odd thing is that I can forcefully push it closed but it springs back up. The service reps here have been great and very friendly but said that headquarters wasn't too sure how to fix it.

Just an update. Tesla service center called to set up a repair and will see what they can do.
Great company!

I went to the ribbon cutting at the Vacaville supercharger. There were about 20 cars there, I examined the hood of many. The fit seems to be imperfect and inconsistent. I was a little surprised.

Check if the rubber seal around the Frunk dry area is snapped in properly. On my November delivery the channel under the seal that holds it in place was on top of the metal flange pushing the seal up a little higher. I repositioned it back onto the flange and the Frunk closed easier.

That looks like it would interfere with the aerodynamics. They should be eager to fix it. The aerodynamics of the car is amazing.

The hood of my frunk fits perfectly.

Perhaps it's time for "The Official Perfect Frunk Fit" thread.
