I tried Posting this here with pictures but couldn't figure out how to upload to this forum. Here's a link to the post I started on the Tesla Motors Club site:
Hope the Hyundai driver was OK
What caused the damage to the rear of the car? Or, why no damage to the door areas?
@jeffsstuff - I'm guessing that the Model S spun after the front was hit by the side and the rear damage is from the Model S spinning into the Hyundai.
Amazingly, though mine was the car that was hit at full force on the side, the other car bounced off, spun around, and hit me a second time in the rear. The Model S was "nudged" off the road while the other car spun around and wound up on the other side of the road facing backwards. It was like the Hyundai hit a brick wall. I do not know the status of the other driver. I hope she is ok.
Well, glad @jdovi is okay and I hope the other driver is (although I hope appropriate actions are taken to ensure an and to the phoning while driving.
Hey, it could be worse:http://www.jeffsstuff.com/2013/10/06/distracted-driving/
I saw this genius on the approach to the Lincoln Tunnel at rush hour. No, I wasn't driving at the time. This guy was however!
Glad you're ok!
And wow they still have Gulf gas stations, blast from the past.
Thanks for sharing. Glad you are okay. Hope the other driver will be as well.
Did the side impact airbags deploy? I couldn't tell by the pictures. Glad you're okay.
Strangely, the side airbags did not deploy yet apparently were not necessary.
Wow. Suffolk County.
I'm in Suffolk with a silver 85p with pano roof.
Where was the accident?
Someone made a video of the pics
The accident happened at the intersection of the LIE South service road and Ocean Ave. in Ronkonkoma. I heard there was another 85kw Silver in the area. Sadly, I'll be in my Durango for the time being..
you can't "upload" to this site. ir you web-host the pics, or if they're already on TMC, rt-click and select Copy Image Location, then put the URL in this HTML: <img src="URL" width="600">
The ejection seat has apparently saved your life! Congratulations!
Yep. Not too far from there. My accountant is off exit 59.
I'm a few exits east of you and in the few weeks I've had the car I've been mostly driving east (North Fork area).
Glad you survived with no injury. I find it remarkable how the Model S handled the impact. Not one window shows even a crack. All the energy was absorbed by the structure. Well done Tesla.
The Hynudai's windows aren't broken, either.
What does the other car look like?
That is nice.
I thought I recognised the car in this tweet from Teslahttps://mobile.twitter.com/TeslaMotors/status/390204542106599425?p=v
