Is it true that windscreen wiper control is on the console?

Folks, that is not a good idea.
What does it take to get a knob connected to the steering wheel?
Same for the HUD. That would not cost much.

Spaceships do not use knobs.

There is a stalk on the column that will activate the wipers for a single swipe (can also be used to wash), at the same time it changes the screen to the wiper controls where you can set the speed.
Can we just agree that there is no HUD and reopening the debate is senseless....

There are already two 'knobs' on the steering wheel. They are quite flexible for accessing menu items on the screen without having to touch it. Oh, and they can be used as buttons too. There is apparently also a button on the end of the signal stalk that operates wipers as noted above, to wash the windshield or do a single swipe. As I understand it, Tesla has effectively eliminated two of the stalks from Model 3 as compared to Model S and Model X. So, no separate stalk for wipers and no dedicated stalk for Autopilot. Seems like a good idea to me. But then, I have fully functional opposable thumbs and an I.Q. that is an order of magnitude above my sneaker size. Truly though, just about anyone who can operate a controller for an XBOX or PlayStation should find this easy to do, even without taking gallons of Mountain Dew or Mello Yello intravenously.
You aren't getting a HUD either.

What about voice control? Instead of "Alexa", we can say "Amber".

@OP no, it is not true. Can’t make it any plainer than that.

It is partially true as @dsvick described. While you can do a single swipe with the stalk to actually turn the wipers on (or off) so that work on their own requires the screen. I've seen videos of the way it works and now I thing it seems OK. Not quite as easy as just using the stalk but usable.

OP is probably concerned about safety while driving, and wants to know if wipers are controlled *solely* by the center screen. As in, “what if I’m in a sudden squall and need to turn on the wipers without having to fiddle around on a touchscreen interface, which might be distracting and unsafe.”
So the answer to the underlying question is “nope”
Just because there are *extra* preference settings available from the center console doesn’t make the primary function on the stalk unusable.

You can operate the wipers from the stalk or screen. Your choice

I can't see any advantage to not using the signal stalk for wipers, signaling and brights, but that doesn't mean that all wiper functions have to be on the stalk. I just can't see what will be gained. Presumably Tesla knows something I don't because they aren't known for making lots of stupid decisions, except for ones where they leave things out and add them later.
That being said, I leave the Model S wiper stalk on automatic and never touch it during normal use. It senses rain and controls itself. That leaves using the squirter and cleaning the windshield, and remembering to turn the wipers off before going through a car wash.
