Reservation #11,017, received finalize email at 5:22PM CST.

mrspaghetti | December 11, 2012

@mwillmsn

I'm 10888, still no email despite #11017 apparently getting one, hmmm...

mwillmsn | December 11, 2012

@ rsampsonjr - did you get it today (tuesday) or yesterday?

@ mrspaghetti - did you check your spam folder?

mrspaghetti | December 11, 2012

Boom! Never got an email, but when I went to my dashboard there was my finalize button! Finalized immediately, now waiting for contract. Estimated delivery Feb-March.

Yeah baby!!!

mwillmsn | December 11, 2012

@mrspaghetti - congrats! What did you get? Where did the finalize button show up? Also, did you immediately get your estimated delivery window?

pbrulott | December 11, 2012

P179 Can, no finalize, no email. I should be next in line as the Can reported with the email was P157.

Editorial: P179 was reserved in August 2011 when US res were at 4600... :-(

Getting close!!!! 11045 anxiously checking email and spam folder!

MB3 | December 11, 2012

mrspaghetti | Double check that they still have your correct email address in your profile.

mrspaghetti | December 11, 2012

@MB3

Yeah they do. Weird that I didn't get a 'time to build' email, but I did get a confirmation after I finalized.

patelpk | December 11, 2012

I got the email, confirmed and been trying to call someone or get a call back since thursday Dec 6th. NOT A SINLGE PERSON has responded to my many voicemails and emails I've sent.. Is this the level of access i'm going to have as an owner when I have an issue????

anyone know a number of a real person to reach? This is crazy that they show my car to arrive in the next week or so and I can't talk to someone and make sure my design changes got confirmed.

P6458

MB3 | December 11, 2012

patelpk. If delivery is only a week away, it is probably too late to make sure the design changes got confirmed. Keep trying to reach them if you want, but at this point you'll have to have any changes done after the fact. Hope you got what you wanted. Good luck.

riceuguy | December 11, 2012

@patelpk, in the time to build email there's a number at the bottom of the email. Got my email today (#10,917), have called twice and they picked up on the second ring both times!

riceuguy | December 11, 2012

@archibaldcrane: I tried to cancel and re-reserve and they told me not to bother. They said at best it would push things back 2-3 weeks. ALL pre-12/31 reservations will be invited to configure by early January, with all deliveries completed by early to mid-summer so that they can wrap up the current seats (non-heated non-12 way). They said the best thing I could do was to put off configuration till the end of my window as every other eager beaver out there will get slotted ahead of me.

jat | December 11, 2012

@patelpk - like @riceuguy, I called the number in the "time to build" email twice, one time picked up immediately, one time went to IVR saying "wait time is less than one minute" and picked up in about 20 seconds. They don't seem to answer email though, so I recommend calling.

dbullard | December 11, 2012

Done, thanks StephenK

benjamin.brooks | December 12, 2012

Just got mine this afternoon, #11,041

TeslaModelSOwner | December 12, 2012

Looks like they are sending the emails out in trickles each day rather than big blasts once a week....I'm 12,848...cant wait.

mwillmsn | December 12, 2012

I wonder if they are trickling them out to try and match demand with their production runs at the end of the year b/c we are seeing some people have just a few weeks of turn around until they get their car.

christine_orita | December 12, 2012

The excitement is almost unbearable. Looks like a 2-3 month wait from finalize order to delivery?
Wow!

P12704 - hoping to get email to build before Christmas as a Christmas present :-)
I changed my design to add air even though I originally did not think I needed it, just so to get it built sooner!
Non-perf, white, tan leather, obeche gloss, air, tech, sound, maybe shelf but not sure I will be using it since I have my puppy's cage in there all the time...

Congrats all this who got their email to finalize...

archibaldcrane | December 12, 2012

@riceuguy I find that hard to believe - pushing back 3500+ reservation slots would have to delay delivery by at least 5-6 weeks - even that would be worth it. I'm still going to wait til later in the month (and just out of curiosity see if I get my "Time To Build" email before then, not that I'll go ahead) but yeah. Even a month would help my situation, gotta put a new roof on the house this weekend, then renovate the kitchen and build a deck in the backyard + new electrical before I get together my down payment for this damn car.

Stgwbrown | December 12, 2012

P11045 just received my email!!!!! Can't wAit to heAr how long till I get my car. Debating on color. Blue or Dark grey but set on everything else. 85kwh, tech package, pano roof, air, and twin chargers.

Mocaptain | December 12, 2012

Does anyone know if we can finalize paperwork in person at the tesla stores? I am awaiting paperwork via email at this point but plan on going down to the Tesla Natick store this weekend anyway.

brijam | December 12, 2012

@mocaptain: They'll probably just have you log on to the website. I think it'll save them a bundle to do all their paperwork through the site. It's refreshing to see a company embrace the web as much as they have.

riceuguy | December 12, 2012

@archibald, yeah, they suggested it would only be a 3-4 week delay, so while it would help, it didn't seem worth the hassle. I agree every week helps, but now I am sort of getting dragged into the "can't wait" mentality, so I will push it out as much as I can within the existing reservation, but no more than that.

reitmanr | December 12, 2012

mocaptain
We went to Santana Row to sign up for our MS. They were very helpful with last minute questions. We then did sign online. Good luck ad enjoy the adventure.

Brian H | December 13, 2012

Isn't drinking from a firehose fun? So stimulating!

:D

mika_ | December 13, 2012

Just got my "time to finalize" e-mail a few minutes ago, res #11380. Delivery window of Feb/March allegedly, which was a pleasant surprise. Waiting on paperwork, weeee!

mwillmsn | December 13, 2012

congrats @ mika - what did you go w/?

mika_ | December 13, 2012

Thanks, mwillmsn. Gray performance 85kw, pano roof, black interior, all the doodads except the jump seats. Got to test drive an almost identical car a couple months ago so I've got a good idea of what I'm in for.

Bumble | December 13, 2012

#11,376 Just received the email too!! Given Feb/March delivery date as well. Getting 85 w/Twin, Blk on blk w/ lacewood, Pano, 19's, Tech, Air, Armor, Parcel. :D

Mocaptain | December 13, 2012

#10512 ...Been waiting on paperwork since Tuesday. Hope to sign tomorrow. I noticed the Feb/March date appears before you lock in your build. From what I heard, if you are building a performance or even a 85kw with air suspension, they may be building much sooner. If you opt out of air suspension or have a different battery config, you may be waiting a while, more like March/April. So a little bird told me. Dont kill the messenger.

riceuguy | December 13, 2012

@Mocaptain, anyone who is surprised to hear that standard suspension or a 40kwh battery will push them to March or later is most likely not active in the forums! They've been clear about that for a while now...

Mocaptain | December 13, 2012

riceuguy,,,
I agree. Whats misleading is that before you lock in your build they say Feb/March for all cars. There were several comments making that time frame seem like it was an accurate estimate on this forum thread. Secondly and to my surprise, the premium reservations were going right into build. Rumor of a premium res from the other day going right into build mode with in 5 days from paperwork. Builds after the new year will also compete with international reservations which is no surprise but a log jam none the less.

riceuguy | December 13, 2012

Indeed...I laughed out loud when Tesla said Feb/March, so she went back and looked at my standard suspension and said "well, not REALLY Feb or March." I think the legitimate criticism is that they have stumbled in their communication...everything else is simply good business on Tesla's part!

mcptwo | December 13, 2012

No. 11364 Just received and finalized Model S 85kw, Silver. I was told possible delivery Jan-March 2013. Seems very optimistic to me but I am amped for a factory pickup and hopefully a factory tour.

mwillmsn | December 17, 2012

Well, it is Monday. Time for more TTB emails to go out. If they prioritized based on refreshing the design studio looking for the "finalize" button, I would be near the top!

jat | December 17, 2012

@mocaptain - if you have a high reservation number and are waiting for red, standard suspension, or a smaller battery, you will likely be waiting longer because all the people with earlier numbers who are waiting for the same thing will get in front of you once those options are unblocked.

NatX | December 18, 2012

Just received my "Time to build" email. P11835. Now all I have to do is convince my wife (and myself) to pull the trigger. Love the car but have never bought a car close to this price range.

85, black, air, pano, tech

tashbrook | December 18, 2012

Got my email an hour ago. Will finalize today or tomorrow. #11790. 85, black , all options but kid seats. I'm stoked to say the least.

archibaldcrane | December 18, 2012

Oh god, P12104 is coming...cancelling and reordering is going to be so painful...I'm not readyyyyyy!!!!

desiguy | December 18, 2012

I have P14514 .. not sure if they will allow swapping of reservations in case somebody wants to wait longer?

archibaldcrane | December 18, 2012

Honestly I want to push back as far as possible while still keeping the original pricing.

Unless you could make such a swap worth my while. If so, and you can get Tesla to agree to it, I'm all ears.

gregv64 | December 18, 2012

It wouldn't make much difference. I'd be very surprised if 14514 isn't invited to finalize by the end of the month, or the first week of January at the latest. Even if you cancel and rereserve on the 31st, you'll probably be invited to finalize by the end of January.

archibaldcrane | December 18, 2012

It'll probably be around 2 months difference. I can make a lot of money in two months. :)

shs | December 18, 2012

I was in a store yesterday and was told that my 145xx number would likely be invited to finalize by the end of the month.
