When does this news come today? After Market? What could it be?
yes i agree, they should give us a time.
Waiting for something to happen just kills me.
I have looked it is not up yet.
The new event gallery is up, so the blog should shortly follow.
When do you think it will post?
Last week, it was within about 30 minutes of the new event gallery being posted.
It's up now.
Let the TEST DRIVES began!!!
When do the config emails go out? I should be in this batch!
Anyo pics of the two Model S Performance mentioned in the blog?
Man! just looking at that count down with 7 days less than the last time I saw it.... it's so exciting!
it's unbelievible...this kind of countdown tops the applestyle of keynote... they push it from week to week
What sucks is I will be in Portland from July 26th to August 4th and wouldn't you know it, the test drive cars leave Portland when I arrive and Chicago starts up (my usual visiting spot) and ends in before I get home.
I am going to call the Portland Tesla and see if they can keep a car for a few days! :-o
No clip! >:(
I want to watch more robots.
There is one on Vimeo: http://vimeo.com/43083157
Posted there June 5, so I suppose it was supposed to be in the blog too.
It actually was in the blog when it went online. Somehow about half of the blog was lost or removed in the mean time, including the clip.
The blog post has been fixed. The first part, including the video clip, is up again:http://www.teslamotors.com/blog/inside-tesla-060512
IT IS TUESDAY!
skkhow, here in Europe, it has been Tuesday all day ...
Ha ha ha :)
At least you are able to watch euro 2012.
Indeed !!! :-)
I think, today we will see the motor coming in or the interiour. I don't see any surprise coming today...
Whity Whiteman, surprise: Paint Center! ;-)
Assembly shop will be next week, judging from the video embedded in the shareholder meeting presentation:http://www.teslamotors.com/forum/forums/outlook-upcoming-inside-tesla-vi...
The "surprises" being released each week now are simply not surprises. It is an indication of how accepting most forum readers are of this vehicle and its patent faults/omissions that people are as accepting of them as such. i am as keen on this vehicle as anyone, but frankly, test drives should have been provided BEFORE orders were taken. All colours should have been available to view also. There is much confusion as to whether previously touted colours remain the same now in the release versions. Why? This should have been cleared up long ago. Release candidate vehicles were never shown, including up to the present - only beta's. Not even today are release vehicles on this website - and at least 2 street-legal cars are known to have been delivered. People are asking about things like parcel shelves, rear seat configuration, whether they fold flat, and so forth - all this is available now and has been for quite a while given the two deliveries, and really should be in the gallery. Even now, there is doubt about the 19 inch aero wheels. It is still in deign studio and there has been no deletion or revision. Removal of banana leaf was almost clandestine! Making excuses for the company in their rush to deliver on a specific date is not good enough. If you make a promise and want to keep to a schedule, well then, employ enough staff to cope with the issues.
Regarding things such as aero wheels, centre console, other storage such as in the doors, mobile app, state of the software on the vital 17 inch screen and a host of things i probably have not thought of, the state of play on each of these should be published, even if only on confidential emails to all reservation holders. Perhaps some of these things are very complex and taking the whole time line into consideration the time is just too short - I accept that - BUT, be up front with those who have already put down a great deal of cold hard!!! They know darn well what the issues are, even a cursory glance through this forum and TMC would tell them that! They apparently do monitor these forums, so where is the issue?
A more accurate time line now for European left hand drive, and rest of world Right hand drive vehicles also now needs to be nailed down and disclosed - even if confidentially. They know what the ramp up is going to be. Deliveries for next week and beyond have already been built!! Parts are continuing to be stamped and drive trains made, and probably have been over the past few months. They also know the capacities of third party suppliers.
Time for us all to be just a little less accepting, bearing in mind the price of this vehicle - nearly 100k for most in the USA, and probably a lot more internationally!!!
A lot of this has to do with the very tight, almost unheard-of, time schedule for the design, tooling, construction, and delivery. To address just one of your 'points':
i am as keen on this vehicle as anyone, but frankly, test drives should have been provided BEFORE orders were taken.
Illegal. Only street-approved vehicles can be used by non-employees. That process was moved along as fast as possible, but has just been completed. Your "demand" would have meant no reservations whatsoever until now.
You should definitely not be a "first adopter". Probably a year or two wait would suit your mentality much better.
I disagree with you. In my opinion Tesla has been more forthcoming than any other car company in the past showing, explaining, tweaking, growing, and DELIVERING. Yes it is expensive. Yes we don't have every detail. Only sig holders( early adopters all) have been asked to agree before a test drive. This will not be true for any p reservations.
Tesla is doing more than I expected they could more than three years ago when I made an unsecured deposit.
I don't think that you like the new paradigm that Tesla is inventing. I do. Taste is subjective.
@dborn I know it is frustrating, but Tesla has to thread a fine line between giving out information and operating in a very regulated environment. In addition to test drive limitations, even announcements have to be carefully vetted. Regulatory bodies may not take kindly to Tesla saying "we'll have the car out on X date" when there are still miles to go on the remaining tests. I can certainly see scenarios where Tesla would want to avoid poking the bear if they don't have to. There may other times (for instance, antiquated dealership rules) where they ultimately need to poke the bear and litigate to bring the industry into modern times. Last, you mention "confidential emails", but I think every Tesla employee knows at this point anything they send by email (or say at a Tesla store or event) could be in the forums by the next day, if not within the hour.
As a stock traded company, they are simply not allowed to share production-date relevant information with just a chosen circle of people. Since any announcement of a possible delay might affect the stock price, all such information must be stated in the public.
I'm not sure that applies anymore, because production has already begun and first cars have been delivered, what is now in question is just deliveries to individual persons.
Any information concerning delays in production are relevant, even after start of production. Imagine what would happen if Tesla had to announce that an important 3rd party supply is short?
Or that the steering wheel had a mysterious propensity for electrocuting anyone whose first name is "David".
I don't know about you, but I sure would have preferred a longer video clip than 2 minutes.
George, we have been waiting for years and all we get is a little teaser? Where is the beef?
George, I made this videos a Year ago- just for fun, just for You Teslaguys and with just very little footage. I never had any feedback or any offer to get better material to make
better and better and better movies.
I'd love to "assemble" cool videos for Tesla.
Good luck on friday- everything is so detailed, so planned-wow!
Eager to see the console option (s). I guess it is premature to ask for price if any.
See what happens when you argue too much about the Console in this forum? George bypasses the company sponsored forum and goes to the TMC site for feedback. I hope everyone over there (I'm not there) does a good job suggesting!
George bypasses the company sponsored forum and goes to the TMC site for feedback. (EdG)
That's tough. Eat you own dog food, Tesla! Invest in your forums so that you can at least use them for your own purposes! I'm not dissing the TMC site, in fact, I'm glad that it's there, but this is somewhere between silly and embarrassing for Tesla, referring to a 3rd-party site when they have forums of their own. WTF?
I was told that they realize there are a larger number of people on the TMC forum.
I think it is good move to put the request for console recommendations on the TMC site rather than here.
By posting on TMC, Tesla is allowing for a more open community. Tesla does not control the mods on TMC (at least not to my knowledge) to the feedback can be more organic and community driven.
Posting at TMC also demonstrates Tesla's respect for the growing Tesla community out side of a Tesla controlled forum. It means Tesla feels the TMC community is both large enough and intelligent enough (I have noticed both here and at TMC that Tesla early adopters seem to be both very intelligent and accomplished professionally) to participate in an important design decision.
George has been known to post at TMC before, and overall, I think it's the right decision to post the console request thread there.
That's because it is a properly designed functional forum with much larger usage numbers. The proof of the pudding is in the membership.
@BryanW ... I can confirm that Tesla does not control the TMC mods. And I agree with the rest of your post, too. :)
Roadster Sport #1194
Model X Signature #3
TMC moderator, Model S and Model X forums
.... and stockholder.
I was shocked to read George refer to an independent site for company information. George is vice president, sales & ownership experience!!! Isn't he supposed to be selling us everything about Tesla as well as making sure we have a good experience coming to teslamotors.com? To my knowledge, there've been tons of complaints, comments begging for a better member experience of this website's forum. We probably should be reading the blog on TMC if it's Tesla's approved forum. That's not good enough. Tesla should promote the forum and everything else about this website such that outsiders would swarm here to seek information not only on the good works of Tesla but also on EVs in general. My ten cents.
BTW, looking forward to seeing the video of the first "wave" of Model S deliveries.
If the major complaint about a car that can cost over $100,000 is that some customers don't like your web forum or that the company concedes that TMC's forum has more posters....I'd say you're doing things right.
He didn't tell us to go the TMC forum for information. He told us to go there to post feedback. That makes sense because that's where more of the community is and that's where more discussions happen. I think it's great that they're paying attention to what people are saying on TMC.
I understand that we all want a better, more functional forum here, but his goal in telling you to go to the TMC forum is so that they can get the most and the best feedback. That's more likely to happen there than here.
Besides there's plenty of industries and companies where the feedback activity is primarily on independent sites or "fan" sites and engaged companies readily acknowledge that they follow along there or even particpate. That's a good thing.
Olanmills, do you really disagree with volker.berlin? Is geoge putting info on this site really a problem?
I agree with Olan. Consider this. You have a shipping commercial product. On your official website you post, saying; "Hey, we have a nice car, but it's missing a few things. We did 99% of the design work, but just ran out of time, or couldn't figure out how to complete/compliment the interior. So help us out and design that last bits we might have gotten wrong...".
The official site is designed to show WHAT IS. The fan sites, are a better place to collect feedback on what COULD BE.
