Panoramic Roof

Panoramic Roof

I just received my Tesla Sig P with a panoramic roof. Is anyone have annoying sounds coming from theirs? Mine makes clicking sounds every time I go over the slightest bumps.
If you had this problem how was it resolved?
The car would be perfect if it wasn't for that annoying noise. I LOVE IT!

I'd definitely call Tesla to fix it.

Has anyone taken in their MS for service for a "creaking" sound coming from the pano roof? what was the fix?

Mine is in Freemont Service center for it and had to keep the car there over night because they're cutting the glass out to look for the problem.

Had the same problem. Took it twice to the SC in Rockville. They fixed it the second time by disassembling it without cutting out the glass and adding padding in the places responsible for the noise. Apparently manufacturing problem without official solution yet.

Ok...thanks for the info...

Mine is more of a cracking, crunching sound. I have read many other reports on this forum with similar problems and some of the "fixes" were very involved, damaging, and IMO experimental. If it's not driving you crazy I would wait until TM figures it out once and for all.

I had mine in to "look at why the pano shakes like crazy when open traveling over 45mph." They looked at it and concluded that the way to avoid this was to open 20% or less! WHAT!!!!!

I have the same same cracking/crunching. Really frustrating as the car is otherwise perfect and a joy to drive. If anyone gets this fixed please post what was done.

I just had mine in at Fremont for a popping from the pano roof cross bar. They lubricated the crossbar somehow. It seems to have fixed the problem.

jchangyy | March 13, 2013

@albert....what? My MS is also at freemont, dropped it off on monday and picking it up tomorrow. they said they had to cut the pano glass out to figure out what's going on. What's going on????

robertreedpeterson | March 13, 2013

I've had the same issue for a few weeks and just had it worked on by service guy in Rockville. The noise seams to be coming from the headliner trim which he worked on for a while and put some velcro to secure it better around the cross member. The noise was gone for half a day then it came back... So, like others have said it is very annoying and seams to be related to the interior trim, not glass. I'm hoping this gets figured out soon because other than this the car is perfect. Till then i guess i've got to just play the stereo louder than normal...

jchangyy | March 13, 2013

Well, after 2 full days at freemont service center, the noise is gone. Today was a hot days do it was a good test. Will see if the noise comes back in the next few weeks.

Mine had the same exact issue. According to the rep at Tesla there is no known permanent solution yet. I had mine fixed the first time and it came back after a few weeks. Just had them pick it up today to try to fix it again along with some other minor issues.

Ticking/Clicking over bumps and on the freeway. In such a quite ride it is really annoying.

Took it in ...... came back immediately, but less and in a more discrete location.

The panoramic roof started making sound the very next day after I took delivery. I took it in the Fremont factory service center, and they fixed it by "lubing and resecuring the pano roof" - but then it started again within two day. Not sure whether I should call and take the car back in, or just wait until they have a permanent fix. Is there anyone who got this fixed and is not getting the noise anymore?

awaite | March 30, 2013

Having the same issue. I've been accumulating a list of things to present when I call in, likely fairly soon but having only had the car for a couple weeks feel it's best to wait until there is a critical mass of issues and confirmation they don't get worked out with a few miles. This creaking sound is the most egregious of the issues for sure.

Otherwise, as many have noted, this car is a dream.

Here's hoping the fix is minor.

I'd let them know right away that their fix didn't take care of the problem permanently so that they can troubleshoot and work on the real problem. They appreciate the additional data points and feedback so that they can make continuous improvements.

If you are not in a rush to get it fixed you can still inform them of it so that they can use that bit of knowledge when looking at other cars with a similar complaint and do a bit more intensive investigation.

I have the same issue and its driving me nuts. Its really noisy over uneven roads. I don't know what it is and its hard to tell exactly where its coming from. Probably a manufacturing or assembly problem that needs to be addressed ASAP! I guess that's the downfall of these quiet cars, you get to hear everything. I hope Tesla fixes this soon for all future people ordering across the board and not just only a case by case basis. I've called support and they told me to take it in. Some things are understandable, but I don't buy a vehicle to take it in for repair. I wish Tesla would read whats on this forum. It would help address a lot of issues with the car.

Captain_Zap | March 30, 2013

They do read what is on the forum but that isn't what gets it into their database for troubleshooting.

I have the same problem but it comes and goes. Isn't a big deal IMHO. Better than an engine roar.

djm12 | March 30, 2013

That makes sense @Captain_Zap. Telsa mechanics fix cars according to their repair manuals and service bulletins.

See my solution on the above tread on April 8th.
