Petition to allow Tesla to sell in all states-tracking progress

Petition to allow Tesla to sell in all states-tracking progress

I signed yesterday and were up to 2400. I sent the link and a message to my friends and family, hopefully a few will sign it. I suggest all of us on the forum do the same!

Yes, Jamon. I'm obsessed with the number 100k. Seriously, my wife is trying to hide my phone from me. I've never been like this for anything outside my career and family. The only forum I've ever been on too. Just think what Elon/Tesla is doing is a major deal for a lot of reasons. Really excited to see how this petition turns out and what will result from it. Gonna take a long nap after this is over!

@jk I'm with you on every single point! Except my wife would have found a way to separate me from the internet by now :)
Don't burn yourself out on this one. There's still a lot more work to do once the petition is done.

ref: number obsession... Also serves somewhat a logical purpose. Think it's best to keep this thread at the top of the thread queue to keep it fresh on viewer's mind. Annoying, but effective. (I always think of public radio donation drives) Secondly, it's good to keep a record of the numbers to see how strong the signature rates are, as well as overall posterity/history of the event.

I wonder why the site doesn't also have some sort of rate-over-time graph or numbers chart like Youtube sort of has. That would show when a petition has gained more at a certain time and whatnot.

The original auto sales model allowed manufacturing to turn profits when companies were young by selling in bulk to dealers. Dealers would then mark up prices and sell for a nice profit. Manufacturers agreed to provide territory to dealers and not compete directly. The dealers became well funded and locally politically influential. They enacted laws to prevent manufacturers from selling directly which would be possible at lower prices since there was no middle man. The law was good.

Tesla has no dealer franchises that sell Teslas. They have no gentleman's agreements not to compete. They offer a new product and a new way to buy. They are not cheap but the markup is needed to fund innovation and infrastructure. They are American made, American innovated creating American jobs. Applying existing dealer laws to this company squashes innovation, holds prices high and loses American jobs. Is that what we want?

I agree this is a state matter, but sign the petition, copy and paste The victorious number of signatures to your local and state representatives and to your federal law makers. Tell friends to sign. Lets make sure we tell our government SERVICE MEMBERS THAT WE WANT THE OPTION TO BUY FROM TESLA. lets make sure they realize that we know when a good law is being twisted to an unintended purpose. Remember any government, local, state or federal is too big if it is acting outside the needs and wishes of its constituents! Please sign, call your friends and family sign!

We also need to boycott the dealers.

A man who owns 7 dealerships did not want to let me in to a Cancer Benefit because I was driving my Model S!!!!

I want to fight back against the Dealers and BOYCOTT them right now!!!

That is awful skymaster. Unfortunately, I have already boycotted dealerships since my awful experience with them 20 years ago. I'd be happy to continue my boycott citing your cause as well.

Have you guys noticed an increase in the signature rate since Tesla sent out the e-mail?

Wouldn't that make a cute human interest story in the local paper! If they dared diss a potential/actual advertiser...

It occurs to me that this petition drive qualifies as "free publicity" for TM. Certainly a buzz-maker!

Yes He was not very nice. I have bought 2 cars from him in the last year.(NEVER AGAIN)

When I pulled up to him, he immediately went on a RANT about Tesla circumventing the "Dealer Network". He informed me he had 100 Million invested in his dealerships. Gee, do you think he has gotten a return on his investment???

His Name is Kent Stevinson here in Denver, CO

We need to boycott him and ALL of the Dealers right away!!!

I say it's time to raise the bar. If we can double the pace and sustain it for the week, we'll finish as the number one petition in the country. We don't just need the 100,000 to get a whitehouse response - let's blow them out of the water and show the lawmakers how the country feels about this! We already have the #1 car, company, and CEO. Let's get the #1 petition to drive the point home!

Target: 366,600 votes!

RonaldA | June 28, 2013

Booyaa!!

AtlantaCourier | June 28, 2013

I did lie, it was actually at 54002 when I posted it.

Kleist | June 28, 2013

@skymaster... never to have to go a dealer again was my 2nd strongest motive to buy the S.
I didn't have your almost comical experience, but here GM, Ford, Toyota, Honda, BMW, etc... are all the same dealer now and services has gone down the tubes and prices are skyhigh. That is what no competion is doing. The multi- brand dealer model is a complete failure for the customer. Two votes from my household will be added next week.

ENGINEER | June 28, 2013

@Jamon I like the way you think. Plus, if the petitions make the initial minimum before the deadline they can be signed after the deadline as well.

Brian H | June 28, 2013

AC;
There must be different caches here and there; it still showed 53979 at 5 past on my screen! Sometimes I get no changes for a while, then suddenly a several hundred jump. Digital weirdness happening, I think.

ENGINEER | June 28, 2013

I've discovered that if you're signed into the website, the petitions count is much more accurate.
