Does anyone know if the model x will come with QI wireless charging for your cell phones.
My phones don't support Qi, so I'm not well versed in the ecosystem.
I suspect you can find 3rd party chargers that will run from the 12V outlet, should be no big deal.
Trust me, you want to physically secure your phone, so you might as well plug it in. I rested my phone on the charging dock instead of plugging it in and floored it. My phone went flying.
Phone charging on a mat in a Tesla = deadly projectile for passengers.
I am a huge fan of QI wireless charging, especially now with my Note 7 no more of those tenuous recieving adapters.
I have always had it in my cars, now I added this device just above the hazard flashers.
It holds the phone very well, at least for the last 3 weeks, and I hope it does not affect the figured ash insert but those 3M adhesive pads are usually benign.
I power the device with a long USB cable inconspicuously run from the center console, or you can get those ODB port power adapters and run it under the steering wheel and dash which I actually prefer.
It works perfectly and charges like any other standard QI charger. The Android app "Ampere" shows on average 300-500 mA, so a good amount of current is getting through, even with a thin rubber case.
I have also tested these other items, but could not find an acceptable mounting location.
By the way, I am not a fan of the location that Tesla provides for the phone although the available charging is a nice feature...The location make it difficult, almost unsafe to interact with...(yes, I am that kind of person to do that while driving...Thanks AP)
So until they release Android Auto capabilities and the phone icons are on the display....
Mophie offers a Qi charger that holds their battery case magnetically vertical if wanted. Worth a look if you're interested.
I have the mophie case and charger, and it works pretty well.
Is anyone else not scared of the harmful health side effects of wireless charging? I mean being exposed to this for an extended period of time.
