Questions on loaner Tesla vehicle

I took my M3 for repair and I was given a loaner Model S with no Autopilot (plain nothing). I was told that loaner vehicles do not come with Auto pilot. Is this true? anybody ever got a loaner car with Auto pilot?
I'm planning to go on a 6 hours trip and looking to have a nice trip with my M3 using Auto pilot, now it seems my car wont be ready. I do not want to drive my ICE vehicle or a Model S with no Auto pilot for 6 hours.

The horror.

007bond | April 18, 2019

Why not enjoy the old fashion trip to its fullest and take a paper map!

Loaners do not come with autopilot. The one I had was in valet mode and the parking sensors were disabled. That's ridiculous, especially if a valet driver is behind the wheel. They are also speed limited.

jd4714 | April 18, 2019

I had a Model S loaner that had autopilot, it was a 2016.

lbowroom | April 18, 2019

I've never had one in valet mode.

My 2 ½ month Model S loaner had all its bells and whistles. It just wasn't a Model 3.

vishious911 | April 18, 2019

I'm the kinda person who drove the car, even with the Autopilot trial. This car is so much fun to drive! Especially with standard regen and acceleration. When the "autopilot" makes the monthly payments instead of me, then it can drive my car. Until then, I'm driving.

Each to their own, I suppose.

I was given a loaner once when my car was in service. Model S 75D with EAP working but NoA wasn’t activated. Having the car for a couple nights convinced me to add AP and FSD when the discount happened in March.

I was given a model x as a loaner. I used TACC but didn’t try auto steer. I’m sure it was there but didn’t use it in a unfamiliar car in an unfamiliar city. Nice car but not my 3.

hokiegir1 | April 18, 2019

We've had some with and some without.

My loaner was a Buick Enclave. They did pay for the gas though. You should be happy you got a Tesla. End of story.

elecfan2 | April 18, 2019

I got a 2015 Model S loaner with AP1. Was interesting to see what it was like back then. I found out I wouldn't like to have a Model S, too confining, and I appreciate my Model 3 even more. I would like to try out a Model X, but really what I want in my heart is a Model Y or a Tesla Pickup.

ODWms | April 18, 2019

@vishious911, I’m with you. Fastest, best handling, best performing, most fun car I’ve ever owned. And the best thing about it is the Autopilot?

Yeah, no.

charles.a.braun | April 18, 2019

I've had a dozen or more loaners over the past 3 years. 1 had AP. It also had the cold weather package. I found the heated steering wheel more useful than AP

inconel | April 18, 2019

I have had many loaners, the ICE ones did not have AP :) but ALL the Teslas have had AP, some AP1 (S P85D, X90D) and some AP2 (S P100D, S 75D)

@007bond
I don't need a paper map. I will just stop at every gas station and ask for direction. That's the" old fashion trip"

I was just given a model S loaner with Autopilot. Took me forever to figure out how to activate it though. Funny how quickly you adapt to everything being on one screen. All the buttons and levers in the S seem so old school. LOL I’ll have it for 2-3 weeks though. Just enough time to adapt to it before getting back my 3.

ebmcs03 | April 22, 2019

How do you activate it on the S?

jordanrichard | April 22, 2019

It should take forever to learn how to do anything with a car you are not familiar with, read the owner's manual if you are unsure...........

CST | April 22, 2019

Best if you get a loaner S during the auto-pilot demo week :)

elecfan2 | April 22, 2019

The S has a dedicated stalk for autopilot. It's just different.

Mediumed | April 23, 2019

I'm in a Model S loaner right now and it has autopilot. I flashed my brights turned on signals and adjusted the volume before I figured out how to engage autopilot. This is the first time that I've ever been in an S either as a passenger or driver and I have to say that its a great car for sure. I dont know if its because I drove a 3 first but I do prefer the 3.

foodking | April 23, 2019

My S loaner had autopilot. It wasn't as responsive as the 3 during stop and go traffic but i did notice that less people cut me off when i'm in the S. Don't know if it's because it's a larger car or people know it's more expensive.

ODWms | April 23, 2019

I drove an S before I reserved my 3. I like the interior layout on the 3 much better, not to mention the ride and overall sportiness of the 3.

lbowroom | April 23, 2019

Its remarkable how ordinary the S feels.

Pierogi | April 25, 2019

I have a Model S loaner (85) and it has autopilot. I feel like I’m driving a Towncar or an old Cadillac compared to the Model 3 due to the size of the Model S. And the display behind the steering wheel in the S is annoying. :)

fazman | April 25, 2019

i had a model S 75D 2018 when i took my P3D+ in to fix the delivery day issues. It was an enterprise rental given to me by Tesla, it had FUSC... I was able to put on about 4000 miles on the car, i think i might want a cpo model S after that.

The enterprise Loaners all have AP disabled

gump59 | April 25, 2019

Loaner was a 2015 P85D with autopilot. My M3 is SR+, I did enjoy the 0-60 test of the P85D, and liked having the additional display in the traditional spot (dash behind the wheel). I was happy to get my nimble M3 back though.

dmanincali | April 25, 2019

I've received a mix of different configs when I've had my X in for service - but luckily always a Tesla loaner so been happy with them. I've had everything from a fully loaded performance X to a bare bones S with no options. I know that Enterprise manages a bunch of Teslas loaners and their cars are usually the bare bones ones.

cborstein | May 3, 2019

Had my M3 in this week and got a 2016 P90D Model X with autopilot and Ludicrous Speed!!! It was pretty awesome!!!

Still like my M3 better though!!!

Electric_Sheeple | May 3, 2019

I'm in a Model X loaner right now... No AP !!

Pepperidge | May 3, 2019

I drove loaner Model S 100D with almost full options EAP, air suspensions, sunroof, etc. Plano TX SC.
