For those of you who are worried about range, here's what happened to me today:
Like most people, I've been busy juggling work with holiday shopping, errands, etc. So I leave home this morning in my gas powered SUV, with my "To Do" list, on my way to the first stop, the Post Office. That's when I realize that my gas tank is almost on "E". So I bust out laughing when it occurs to me that this won't happen anymore, because next week I'm due to take delivery of my Model S, and from that point forward, I will leave home each day with the Model S registering "Full".
So I figure since I'm not on "reserve" fuel yet, I can get a couple of errands in before refueling at my preferred "cheaper" gas station. When I finally get to my preferred gas station, the "reserve fuel" light is on. BUT, all the bays are full and I really don't have the time to wait. So I drive another two blocks to my backup gas station, and guess what? ALL of their bays are full too! So now range anxiety kicks in big time! I drive 5 more blocks and arrive at another gas station with 2 open bays, and spend $60 to fill-er-up. Enough gas for one more week. I could have driven for 5 weeks in my Model S on $60 of electric fuel!
So the next time someone tells you that it only takes them 3 minutes to fill up with gasoline, you tell them my story.
