Rear Seat - 2nd Row - Seat Belts on Both Sides Stick

Rear Seat - 2nd Row - Seat Belts on Both Sides Stick

Does anyone see this symptom.

Seat belt gets stuck at a fixed tight position and the only way to free yourself is to unbuckle, let it retract all the way and re-buckle. Happening on both sides but not to the front seats.

Today was first day that I road in the back seat, with one hour on each side.

I love roading on the open roadway as well! Today I rode a bicycle! :)

Beat you to it Brian!

@Mark, does it make a difference if the car is moving or not? I mean you're saying that while in motion, this is happening?

Yes. I have experienced this and will be taking my car into the service center to have it fixed.

Seat belts in back have child seat interlocks. Check the manual for proper operation.

There is a known problem with the rear seat belts dragging - there was a mis-manufactured part. I had mine replaced; it helped but hasn't completely fixed the problem. You may have an extremely bad case. Get service to take a look.

Please describe in what way their operation is different from standard locking seat belts. It is unclear from your post.

Standard locking seat belts in rear seats will lock due to a sudden pull or due to being extended all the way. They unlock when retracted all the way. Your post doesn't make it clear how your experience varies from normal operation.

nickjhowe is, as usual, correct. I complained about mine in November, was told it would require leaving the car to disassemble the back area, then in June was told that there were NO reported issues (!!!) and told by my service rep that she tested them and they were fine (they weren't).

Now I have confirmation from the same rep (reliable?) that they have an actual NEW PARTS FIX that I'm supposed to have installed within 10 days.

So maybe they've addressed the problem. I'll post when I know more.

I had a problem as well where the belts would bind when you pulled on yhem. They ordered the parts, but when I brought it in to replace them, the saw that the covers had been pushed down too far, probably by the car washer when cleaning the back window inside. They reseated them and they're fine now.

I rode in the back seat of MS back in December and experienced the same issue of the seat belt locking.
