Today is March 2nd. Hopefully TM started producing Red Color Tesla S. Please whoever gets any information on a first production, please post.

Ohms.Law | April 9, 2013

@Brain H - troublemaker! :\

bob | April 9, 2013

Now that's what we've been waiting for! Thanks Elon.

Ohms.Law | April 9, 2013

Got a big surprise tonight. My Experience Specialist (I didn't have a DS) called to say there had been a disconnect between the factory and the delivery people. My car has already entered production with a delivery window from tomorrow (!!) April 10 to April 24. Red button showed up moments later and I'm off to the races. VIN: 8357.

Wow, wow, wow. Shock and awe.

Pulse | April 9, 2013

Congrats Ohms.Law!!! Hope I get my surprise tomorrow.

dubaty | April 9, 2013

Things are moving really fast now. Sent payment on Saturday (had images of Chevy Chase at poolside - "This is crazy, this is crazy...") Received my temporary registration via Fed Ex yesterday. Had to sign some papers saying I really don't live in California and sent those back today. This afternoon, my car became linked to my app (but the remote access isn't turned on, so I can't see anything). It looks like I will get it within the projected window of 4/13 to 4/27. I can't stand the anticipation!

Brian H | April 9, 2013

Won't you miss the anticipation?

vinster | April 10, 2013

Some new pics from the thread on TMC, including stealth shots from behind the fence! :)

DC@Tesla | April 10, 2013

Now that makes more sense. You've waited long enough!

Ohms.Law | April 10, 2013

Thanks DC@Tesla. I'm not the longest, but entering year three it's sure nice to know that it is finally being built.

BTW I was planning on using Penfed but Alliant has better interest these days (1.49%) and a longer term. I'm doing 72 months. They seem quick and efficient.

DC@Tesla | April 10, 2013

What is Alliant's website? By the way I saw your other thread on front license plates. TM sent me a picture of a RED with front license plate holder installed and it looks fine. So, having TM install the license plate holder. Too much trouble (time and money wasted) if the cops give you a ticket.

Captain_Zap | April 10, 2013

Congrats to our expectant Red cousins!
Now the wait really gets tough!

dubaty | April 10, 2013

Hoping to replace the anticipation with exhilaration!

Ohms.Law | April 11, 2013
djm12 | April 11, 2013

Couldn't stand the wait for the delivery button, so I caved in and called 888-771-2505 Option 2. My delivery window to LA area is 5/3-5/18. She told me that my "Inside DS" should contact me within 30 days of delivery, or next week.

atlg8or | April 11, 2013

Completed MVPA today. VIN 8363, Delivery 4/17-5/1...
Anticipating Red!

DLM270 | April 11, 2013

Factory Tour Friday (4/12), Red MS delivery Saturday (4/13). VIN7773

dubaty | April 11, 2013

Congratulations Dean@Fremont! My window officially starts on 4/13. Seems like I have everything but the car; got title the other day and will register soon. Shopping for insurance to beat my current carrier. Just trying to stay busy until the day arrives.

DLM270 | April 12, 2013

@dubaty I know what you mean about staying busy.....
The waiting seems to be getting tougher as we get closer.

Brian H | April 12, 2013

If time is "lengthening", it's because you're paying more attention to each moment. Regard it as a sign of heightened awareness!

JaneW | April 12, 2013

Just got the call.
Delivery April 18.
Whoa, that's nearly a whole WEEK!
Heh heh.

dubaty | April 12, 2013

Congratulations JaneW! Does anyone know if a one week notice for delivery is typical?

dbbtex | April 12, 2013

I was told my Red Model S just finished production, will be in transit to Dallas next week, delivery moved earlier from 4/27 to 4/22. Might be the first Red in Texas!

atlg8or | April 12, 2013

If you haven't seen yet, check out the photos of the first Red customer pickup today:
Congrats and thanks to DLM!

vinster | April 13, 2013

I just picked up my multi-red Model S this afternoon at the Fremont factory. Speechless! Here're my pics:

Brian H | April 13, 2013

Here's a sample from your set:

TheFlyer | April 14, 2013

Vinster, thanks for this great set of pictures It could actually get me back on track for red. I was put away by some of the early pictures, which seemed to show a VERY red color, just too red, too flat. But this seems to have more depth. Am I right? What is multi-coat actually, is it a sort of metallic?
Congrats to your great car and enjoy!

vinster | April 14, 2013

@TheFlyer: Thanks! I believe the multi-coat for the Red is quite similar to what they did for the Pearl While multi-coat. It does look sort of metallic with some depth. It does look different in the shade versus in bright sunlight. If you are unsure, best to check one out if you can.

TheFlyer | April 14, 2013

Thanks Vinster. My wife loves the red, and I am almost convinced myself. We live in Norway, so we can't see it in real life before we spec, which we have to do right now. If the photo from inside shows its real color in the shadow, that is quite different as you say. But i don't mind the darker shade. If Signature red was an option for us, there would be no doubt in my mind. Btw, what was your choice of color before the new red was introduced? (Ours was brown) And, what decor do you have, piano black?

MichaelN | April 14, 2013

Great pics - thanks - Our red S85P scheduled for delivery between 4/49 and 5/10 - hoping to pick up at Fremont plant - our original was white (considered brown also) until we saw the red S at Fashion Island, CA - congrats on your beautiful new car adventure -

MichaelN | April 14, 2013

oops - 4/29 - about four weeks prior notice

DC@Tesla | April 14, 2013

Like the Badge! Like the Spoiler! Like the location of the front license plate! Can't wait.

vinster | April 15, 2013

@TheFlyer : My original choice was Pearl White, which I would've taken delivery in Dec'12 had I not deferred to red! My interior with the red is the performance package carbon fibre panels, with black seats (red piping lines). I have the alcantara headliner, so am lucky not to have been affected. If it helps, I can make a short video of the car and post to youtube.

@DC@Tesla : The spoiler does stand out with the red! If I had the choice, I would not put the front license plate, but I don't want the hassle of dealing with CHP. As is, red is well, drawing enough attention already!

TheFlyer | April 15, 2013

Vinster, you deferred 4 months to get this color! You must have been really convinced. On my side, I am afraid the car is too BIG for red. Too much attention. But if it's not all "firetuck" red, I could be convinced too. A short video on youtube would be really great!, if it's not too much trouble.

ylyubarsky | April 15, 2013

Just received a VIN number. P 14,277; 85kWh performance; VIN 9177; Multi-coat Red; Black interior; Carbon fiber decor; Pano roof; 21" silver wheels; Tech package; Sound studio package; Active air suspension; Parcel shelf, Spoiler. Happy!!!! Production April 22-27 Delivery May 1 - May 15. Dania Beach, Florida.

dubaty | April 15, 2013

Oh, happy day! Got a call from Tesla today telling me my car (VIN 7775)arrived today in Denver and is getting final inspection and detailing. We are planning delivery for this weekend (busy cleaning out garage). I had originally picked brown and was scheduled to receive it in January, but deferred for the red. 60kWh with pano roof, sound package, tech package, air suspension. Coming to Corrales, NM.

vinster | April 15, 2013

TheFlyer: Yeah, I was wondering if the red was worth the extra 4 months, but my heart was set on it and personally, I couldn't be happier now. Here's a short amateurish video of a walkaround I did this morning (There was loud lawnmower noise in the background, so I chose some featured youtube audio instrumental to replace it. :/) You can choose to view 1080P HD which should be clearer too:

LMB | April 16, 2013

YESSS!!! Delivery button. Hope mine is one of a batch, today - being on the east coast, I got to see mine first...

Reserved 12/30/2012
Finalized 2/26
red/grey, 85, air

I worried some that mine would be far down the list due to lack of loaded-ness (if you know what I mean), but given that we were fairly recent finalizers, I'm impressed with how they are clearing the red backlog.

Brian H | April 16, 2013

I think TM is now "demand constrained", not production. They can make 'em and ship 'em as fast as they're ordered.

TheFlyer | April 16, 2013

Thanks for the video, Vinster. The car sure is gorgeous. But am I man enough too choose red? Time will show, we have to make a choice very soon. I will post a comment on your youtube video when I have decided. Thanks again and enjoy your beautiful car!

LMB | April 16, 2013

Being female, I am definitely not man enough to choose red. But that didn't stop me. Nor should it stop you.

JaneW | April 16, 2013

Not all deliveries are entirely propitious. Check this out.
We got it, but can't drive it!

JaneW | April 16, 2013

Sorry. Previous movie went down.
Here's the arrival in mud and snow.
Maybe get to drive it my Sunday or Monday. :(

TheFlyer | April 17, 2013

Love it Jane! Beautiful, even in the snow and mud. Where in the world is this, Canada? Could have been Norway, where the winter still clings.

JaneW | April 17, 2013

At 7000 feet in the hills above Boulder, CO.
Snow on ice today. Car still in garage. Phooey.

Captain_Zap | April 17, 2013

I saw Red.

Today I witnessed the arrival of the second RED Tesla in Seattle.

Brian H | April 17, 2013

Did it leave a green after-image?

Captain_Zap | April 17, 2013

With the bright sunlight on it today, yes it did.

JaneW | April 17, 2013

Bright sunlight. Go head. Rub it in.

Three feet deep and still snowing here in Colorado.

Need a Tesla Snow Cat.

Captain_Zap | April 17, 2013

It was in Seattle so it only lasted a couple minutes. We do gush about it when it happens. It is such a shock to our systems.

It sounds like you are getting what is left of our weather from last week.

dubaty | April 17, 2013

Mine is leaving from Denver on Friday for delivery Saturday. Hope the weather holds up on that end. Weather here is gusty (Albuquerque).
