If anyone happens to pick up their vehicle in Costa Mesa, can you let us know what it's like? I'm debating whether I should change from home delivery to pickup but the Costa Mesa SC Yelp reviews seem hit or miss. A lot of reviewers giving this location 1 star just because their car wasn't vacuumed thoroughly. Although I agree a car should be cleaned properly, I wouldn't knock them too badly for that.

I just got off the phone with Costa Mesa delivery center.
I was lucky enough to get connected right away without any wait time, and also to a very warm and polite advisor, Brittany.
She pulled up my account, confirmed that all the paper work, etc. is in place, added a note that I will be out of town from December 24th, so need to have the car delivered before that date (I have chosen home delivery) and finally said the cars are coming in good batches, and I might hear pretty soon from them. Her ETA was within 10 days, but after talking to her, I feel confident that my car will be delivered before December 24th.

I tried California Credit Union, @Teslaed.. They only gave me 3.39% for 72 months.. same as my Bank of America.
The best I could find was Southern California Credit Union at 3.19% for 72 months.

according to this credit union's website, 2.89% is for 36 month loan. I guess if you are looking for a 72 month loan, they charge a higher % rate.

Tesla essentially gave you all a guarantee of delivery by 12/31/18. If they don't deliver by that date and it is Tesla's fault, I would hope Tesla would reduce your purchase price by $3750.00
Just make sure you all are going to be around your delivery area (or can easily get back to your delivery area within 24 hours) between now and the end of the year. Tesla expects you to be able to take delivery quickly, and if you can't, they will deliver the car to someone else.
@ryneezy... If convenient for you, take delivery at the Tesla Delivery Center in Costa Mesa. I would think you would get your car slightly quicker 1-3 days quicker). Tine is of the essence, so get the car as soon as possible. That is just what I would do.
And don't expect extraordinary experience during delivery (like those YouTube videos from a 9-12 months ago) when they were delivering a few thousand M3's a month in the entire US.
They will clean the car better if you think it is dirty. They will quickly fix things that are easy to fix. And you can ask questions.

Going rate for 72 month loan now (11/28) is 3.5% with excellent credit. If you get anything less, usually there is a catch... i.e. usually open an account or a 3rd party car buying service. Also prime rate is due to go up in Dec so another reason to put your order in now.

RE: Costa Mesa delivery
I went with my son-in-law last September (MID-WEEK) to pick up his 3LR. I give the CM delivery center 5 STARS. Delivery was relaxed and unhurried. Spent almost an hour going over the car. Car was perfect in every way.. Wonderful experience! The key is DON'T TAKE DELIVERY ON A WEEKEND! Take off an afternoon of work during the week for delivery. You will be glad you did.
I saw a midnight silver behind me today. It was kind of sunny, and I would say it's more like a midnight gray. Not as sparkly, or dark as I had hoped.

As for the CM delivery center, they were very kind and helpful. Had a scuff in the wood interior (very minor). They fixed it on the spot. They even installed my new floor mats that I brought with me.
I have few updates that might be helpful for some folks.
1. If you don’t see a referral code, talk to your DA and they should be able to help you. If you don’t have a DA assigned just call Tesla support. My DA was not very helpful so when I went for the test drive I asked the Tesla representative who was with me for the test drive to help me with the referral code and he did.
2. I ordered my mid range on 10/28 when the base price was increased to 46k. At that time I was wondering if I should pay 3k more for long range rear wheel drive but the option was not available for online order. During my test drive I asked the Tesla representative if they have any long range rear wheel drive and he helped me find one. I changed my order to long range and my delivery date is 12/04 at Palm Springs-Cathedral City.

@EM34ME kathyhom Thanks for your input about the Costa Mesa Delivery Center. I like getting opinions from more realistic people. Some of those Yelp reviews were too vicious for minor inconveniences.
Yeah I'm definitely going to pick up during a weekday. I test drove a LR RWD on a weekday and I was pretty much the only person there.
How long did you have to wait once you checked in? I'm hoping the paper work will be quicker because I'm paying cash. It won't be an issue picking up on a weekday because I'm on paternity leave at the moment, but having a 3 month old kid that might get cranky if I have to wait 1 to 2 hours after check in will be harder.

i was given a reservation number with referral code. We applied for a loan from B of A that is good for 30 days only (Dec 14 expiration). i texted the Tesla rep how long the wait is - he said not sure but definitely before end of December. He texted back 11/20 that he found a long range one with other specs we wanted and if we're willing to get it instead of the MR. My husband and I studied our finances and if we can afford an additional $3K. Tesla guy said we can have it by 11/23 thru home delivery. We agreed to get the LR instead. it's thanksgiving weekend and we were out of town, so i rescheduled for 11/26 home delivery (we were not even given a choice if we wanted to pick it up (very convenient!). Everything went really fast. We didn't want the loan to expire and reapply, not sure if that will affect our credit (not sure really how credit report gets affected). VIN number was provided by 11/24. Delivery was very quick.
BTW, I didn't just refresh the website for updates, we actually bugged the Tesla guy for updates through text. What they do is refresh their inventory page and if something pops up, then they contact people who ordered.
So if some of you are willing to spend more moolah, you might get the car faster by getting the LR. I think we were sucked in by the long wait time chatter for MR and our loan expiration looming in... Not sure too if Tesla is forcing people to buy the LR than MR or if somebody defaulted on their order or changed their mind on it. But they promised December delivery for all orders in by Nov. 30. I hope everyone get theirs before year end.
Anyways, we got my blue LR and happy with it. Thank you for this thread! Learning something new every day :)
@ryneezy. When we took delivery back in September 2018 for our MX, our appt was at 8pm but we showed up at 5pm. They told us over the phone that we can come early but absolutely no guarantee to get it early. September was the end of the quarter and they were stacked with deliveries. We showed 3 hours early and got right in. Offered bottles of water and a seat in the lounge. Looked at the M3 and MS while we waited. After about an hour we watched as the MX was parked in the “Welcome” stall. The rep did a little inspection the. Invites us over. We discovered the scuff, the car rolled Away and came back with the scuff in the wood polished like new. He said if we were closer to our appointment then we would not had waited. Either way we got the car in time for dinner.
They were very nice. Only downfall was I used the restroom in the delivery area. It was dirty. Should have used the showroom restroom.
I think I am beginning to suffer from FOMO. Wondering if I should make a move on the LR instead.

I don't know I ordered the MR RWD on 10/21 and change it to LR RWD on 10/22 (because you could no longer order a LR RWD on the website at that time). and I haven't heard anything about a VIN or Delivery date at this point for my LR model. I'm in LA area of Socal.
Probley getting ahold of the right person to find something in inventory is the fastest way but when I ask about that they keep saying there is none, but I see people doing it.
Ordered the Model 3 MR RWD in the wee hours of Nov 29 (technically Nov 30 at that point). My only upgrade was Midnight Silver paint.

I'm getting the feeling that they are delivering the $46k orders first, hence the long wait for us early MR customers. It makes good business sense, but I'm not planning to upgrade to LR to ensure delivery by 12/31. If I don't have a VIN a week before (VINs are supposedly being released a week before delivery), I'll just have to cancel it. Good luck to everybody else in SoCal. Hopefully this waiting room will be obsolete soon.

Wchihhang, did you get the message stating what all you need when it gets delivered? If not, you might not have completed everything.

I also got the text today around 6pm, stating the same thing. Already completed info 3 weeks ago. Called sales rep before few times and he said every thing is completed and no further actions required. I'll give him call tomorrow and will find out.

We received the same text today. Our order page has been completed with no edit button for a couple weeks now showing “Next Steps. We are drafting up your contract and will contact you when you can make your final payment.”
I would be surprised if we were missing any of the checkout items from the “prepare for delivery” stage. Hoping it is instead talking about the items under the “What do I need to bring with me to delivery?” section, meaning delivery might be soon?

Talked to the rep in the morning, he said it was generic text, I have every thing completed and no missing information. Initially I had selected deliver to my house, but now changed it to delivery center in Buena Park. Asked the rep if it will change the delivery time and he said I might get it earlier as it will deliver to delivery center first and then from there to the home delivery. He recomend me to contact him every other day to see if he has the updates. Let's hope for the best.
