Speed camera warning

Speed camera warning

My wife has a Nissan Leaf, and they have installed a speed camera voice warning, starting when you are 200 meters away from the camera. Dear Tesla, my model S is faster than the Leaf and speed camera warnings can save me a lot of money:)

Who is the "they" in the first sentence? Is the speed camera voice warning standard equipment or an option on the Leaf?

If every car had a speed camera warning system then every municipality could install some kind of system that would fool the warning system into thinking there's a speed camera ahead. No cameras needed.

Of course, that would decrease revenue to the municipalities.

Fewer automobile related deaths on one hand lower revenue on the other.

For some politicians it will be a tough call.

Use Waze app on Android or IOS. It will provide voice alerts to speed cameras, police sighting in the area, road hazards, and real time traffic patterns. BTW, Waze also provides GPS, turn by turn instructions, and alternative routes based on tolls/traffic preference.

Don't speed. Problem solved!

mrrjm and Zero EV--I've not had good luck with that. It only takes a one second lapse in the Model S to realize a speed far outside of any limits.

@ mrrjm
Yeah, right. Good one. :^)
If you don't speed at least by 5mph on a Los Angeles freeway, you'll have trucks rolling up your back.

I saw this intersection camera law contested legally here in Houston. The lawyer contesting the statute pulled records and statistics, and it turns out the accident rates actually increased at those intersections after the cameras were installed.

You can get Radar Detectors that have that feature (camera warnings) if you want it, Passport is one, but I'm not sure how it works with the Model-S windshield. I think there is a problem with the GPS built into the detector getting a signal due to the coatings on the windshield.

I use Waze too and its very helpful.
I wish Model s had that kind of GPS so that it will minimize destination route so that you reach it faster with full traffic.
