The Tesla Coaster!

The Tesla Coaster!

This weekend, I took my 12 year old disabled daughter in the car for the first time. She is mentally retarded, but will often surprise me with what she picks up. She has been on rollercoasters before, and somehow picked up the custom of raising your arms over your head on a coaster (I didn't know she had learned that).
We got in the car and started driving after I buckled her in. Soon after, I floored it and produced that great coaster acceleration. She squealed with delight, and then started putting her arms over her head, asking for more!! LOL!!

Today I took three friends for their first ride in a Tesla. These are not small guys. We had close to 1,000lbs slowing us down a little. The acceleration was still fast and relentless enough they instantly had the Tesla grin. Then came the "I almost peed myself comments." Then the coaster analogies. After 15 minutes, people started to complain of that sick in the head feeling us old people get on coasters! The ride was a huge hit. At the very least, I think I sold some Tesla stock today, and maybe some GenIIIs. :)

LOL - my daughters have adopted what I call the Tesla scream of delight. From third row they love the acceleration and they keep chanting "daddy do it again do it again!!!"

Tesla....rollercoaster......Tesla ROLLERCOASTER!!!!!

AHHHH Tesla can start building theme parks or coasters for existing theme parks!

Untapped revenue stream right there! GO BUY SOME MORE TESLA STOCK NOW!!!!

My youngest daughter gets car-sick very easily, so I can't do the rapid acceleration with her in the car :(

I think I'm going to impose mandatory potty breaks before all my test drives.

You could also advertise "constipation cure" drives ... :P

I can see it now:
"Hey, can you take me for a spin in your new Tesla?"

"Sure, put this on."

"What is that?!?"

"What does it look like? It's a Depend..., just in case...." | July 3, 2013

My suggestion (posted a long time ago)

"Welcome to the Model S-- We will be cruising at an altitude of about 8 inches. Please remember to fasten the safety belt using the buckle located on the inner side of the seat. Pease note that all seat belts and sphincters are to remain fully closed until the vehicle has come to a complete stop. Now sit back and enjoy the ride...passengers prepare for take-off"

+1 Brian H lol

Sometimes I really wish I got the Performance version...

Does anyone else remember the Rocket Rods ride at Disneyland? It was short-lived but definitely my favorite.

That's what I was reminded of by my test drive (in a P85+, no less). That awesome first burst of acceleration on the Rocket Rods...

Here is a video of my daughter's reaction to the Tesla. Too bad the video we took the first day didn't turn out (wife was paused when she thought she was recording....). Reaction today not as extreme, but it will still make you smile. Something about Special Needs Children that just brighten up a room....

couldn't get YT link to fire up

Great video!

You could see pure joy in her eyes!

The Tesla Grin never fails.

Jackie :-)

Interesting. Link works on my PC, and on my Samsung Note 2 (but on the phone it only works through web browser, and not through Youtube app).

Worked when I pasted it in:

Love it!! Hope you don't mind, I'm totally stealing the term and sharing the video :)

Awesome! If Tesla ever needs to run a commercial, a kid riding a roller coaster with a huge grin on his/her face fading into an adult with the same grin gripping the wheel of a Model S would pretty much make my day. :-) Thanks for sharing that family moment, @rdalcanto!

rdalcanto | July 5, 2013

I don't mind. Share away!
Thanks for the kind words everyone! :-)

CfOH - That commercial idea is brilliant! Tell Elon!

rdalcanto | July 5, 2013

I love how you can see her core muscles tensing up to control her body when I hit the"gas"

+1 Daughter
+1 Roller coaster fade to adult gripping wheel.

Then cross cut from coaster whipping around corner to MS doing the same.

Note to self: Call broker again.

Robert22 | July 5, 2013

...and then a smiling guy with a Tesla cap leans next to the window and says: Did you enjoy your test drive?

Robert22 | July 5, 2013

Or better: (Sudden snap back to reality, coaster was really a dream sequence): Are you ready to start your test drive? :)

(Okay, I'm done)

Love it! Thanks for sharing :)
