Tesla S Coupe

Tesla S Coupe

I would really, really, really, REALLY like to see the top brass at Tesla consider this possibility:

I appreciate the rendering, but I'm not sure of the value of a virtually identical model--minus 2 doors. Might be able to shorten it a few inches, but you still need back seat room and overall lenghth for the battery, right?

I hope Gen III is just as gorgeous as the Mod S and X, but very different.

That does look gorgeous.

the doors are already really big, I wouldnt buy this version.

Most coupe doors are definitely longer than a 4-door version. You need space to get in the back seats.
I think the proportions of this vehicle would be... odd. With the car being so wide, being any shorter wouldn't look right to me.

I don't understand why a coupe would appeal more than the current version. So you WANT to have to constantly move the front seats to allow passengers?

Maybe its just me, but a couple just seems like going "backwards" in design for the Model S...

JPtheseeker | May 16, 2013

Well, basically I don't like 4 door sedans, it's just me, I don't have a family so the back seats are seldom used (I have a 911 at the moment and would NEVER buy a Panamera). I like sporty looks, and since the roadster is not coming back anytime soon, I would love a coupe version of the S tweaked more on the performance side than on the range side. And a shorter wheelbase would make the car more nimble (and yes less confortable, but people like me don't care). The S is a fantastic car, just not what I'm looking for, a coupe would be (relatively) easy to develop, I'm just sad it won't hapend.

I'd defer my reservation for that coupe in a heartbeat. The model S will be the first four door car that I have ever bought, and I'm 49 and have had quite a few cars. All coupes or sports cars.

Pity that it isn't on the roadmap *yet*. Please build it Tesla!

nickjhowe | May 18, 2013

The stationwagon version looks great. This one, Meh!

JPtheseeker | May 19, 2013

Ok some like it some don't, that's totally fine. The point is maybe Tesla should do a little market research to see if there's demand for a sportier 2+2 coupe version of the S that could be developped pretty easily, I think there is.

The most important thing for Tesla's long-term survival is getting the GenIII out. It will take some time for battery price/performance to improve so they can, and the Model X is slated to fill that role. I can't imagine they would increase the overall sales by much, mostly it would just convert existing Model S customers to coupe customers. Coupled with the high cost of developing a new model, it seems highly unlikely to me.

The Model S is the very first sedan I have owned. I have always had coupes before.

The performance and the fastback design are what compelled me to give it a try.

I am waiting..... hoping Tesla will build this. The sedan is beautiful, but its not me. If Tesla doesn't build a coupe, I'll buy one from another manufacture who will.
