Very funny encounter!!

I was at Costco recently with my new Model S; my license plate is "ZRO GAS". I was there with my wife; our main mission was to buy 4 or 5 cases of Pellegrino - my "drink" of choice.

So we got our 5 cases back to the car, had the rear trunk lid open, and we were starting to transfer the Pellegrino cases to the trunk. A guy walked by, took a look at the situation, and undoubtedly noticed my license plate. His comment was (with a big grin on his face):

Does that thing run on Pellegrino? !!

Totally made my day!

Get a Sodastream!

However, one might argue that you have just redirected your "gas" from your car to your stomach.
Wasser mit gas bitte! ;>)

My daughter has a pet hamster with one of those treadmill wheel things. I am SO tempted to put the hamster cage in the frunk with a couple of small wires running from the hamster wheel into the carpet.

Scoberly, picturing someone opening the frunk and finding that is hilarious. If you were a cartoonist, you could sell it to The New Yorker.

You HAVE TO do that! I'm tempted to buy a hamster myself just to be able to do that just once!

@Brian H.
I've been eyeing up that exact hamster wheel. I'm thinking about getting it to stick in the frunk for when I'm at car shows.

Please do not get a live hamster. The hamster will die due to the heat.

I also had a funny encounter. I was driving in Burlington, Vt. with a friend when a well-dressed man ran toward the car from the other side of the road.

My friend panicked and kept saying, "Don't let him in; lock the doors!" His face looked very familiar, but being flustered, it took me a few seconds to realize who it was. Turns out it was our former governor and presidential candidate, Howard Dean.

Of course I rolled down the window, and he asked how I liked the car. He wanted to know how it handled in winter. I had only gotten it in March, so really haven't yet experienced winter with it, but, again, being flustered, I said that it was wonderful. Most reports seem to indicate that it will be, so I don't feel too badly.

He really was looking it over in our few seconds together! Had I had my wits about me, I would have offered him a test drive! Now that would have made a story. My friend is continually amazed about what a guy-magnet this car is!

Did he let out his trademark yelp?

PorfirioR | June 27, 2013

We call that "Brodering" the hamster. A huge no-no.

PorfirioR | June 27, 2013

Good thing you did not let Howard Dean test drive your car. He would have taken you to New Hampshire, South Carolina, and Oklahoma, and Arizona... Yeeeeehaw!
