What happened to the Model S delivery thread?

Does anybody know what happened to the:

thread? This was the thread where people post their delivery experience information. I had it bookmarked, and now you get a "404 page not found" error.

It seems to have disappeared. | March 1, 2013

You are correct-- cannot be found :o(

I think they pulled it to quell the onslaught of calls asking for VINS. Folks like me are wondering why people with later finalize/configure dates and similar configurations already have VINS and delivery windows. I'll be patient. P85, tech, air, back seats, HPWC.

Yes, and confirmation that higher price builds are being delivered before 60s (and obviously 40s). I'm remaining patient and trusting that my march/April window holds....

I also just noticed that the "Tesla Bulletin Board" is down to 18 threads, from 20. The first was the Delivery of the 40 starts in March, I not sure what the second one was.

Not nice. So now we are being sensored?

Brian H | March 2, 2013

Doubt it. Censored, maybe.

To be honest, I don't think it was a bad idea for TM to take this thread down. Sometimes too much information is not a good thing. Yes, you could sift through the posts and collect data that gave you a good idea of the cars with some specific options that were getting built and delivered. But in the end, it just wasted too much of my time (my own fault, of course).

I have a good friend that ordered (from the factory) a Cadillac ATS a few weeks after I ordered my MS. He never got any information from the factory or the dealer. At one point, he was told it was "on the truck". But he waited nearly 3 months (just got it last week), and never had any really good idea as to when it would show up.

I am taking factory delivery (and tour) this coming Wednesday, so I am super excited!

Replaced by private thread:

It is possible the OP deleted it for some reason - we can't assume it had to be TM. Suggest we all ask TM. | March 2, 2013

I don't think I've seen TM delete a thread on this forum so I suspect that is not the case. (no proof one way or the other)

sshrivas | March 2, 2013

If TSLA took the thread away, possibly to avoid media drama and incorrect press about reservations , delivery etc. That thread should have been private to start with. Regardless, there are enough outlets to get the same information.

hsadler | March 2, 2013

I think it's a good idea that now it is on a private thread. If you have a res you can see. And some very good info there.

nickjhowe | March 2, 2013

@chuck lusin - FYI - the post that disappeared on the bulletin board was the one about "when will production start vs sigs". no harm, no foul.

Brian H | March 2, 2013

Heh. Will need another like it for the European and then Asian runs soon enough.

Mliss | March 2, 2013

@all. The thread that disappeared was one of the most useful ones for those of us waiting for our cars. Absolutely no exercises. More information. Is always better for those who want it. There is a new private thread but a lot of the history is lost. Hopefully tesla doesn't decide that they don't like our thoughts on the new thread and delete it again.

The joys of moderation. "Absolute power corrupts absolutely."

Musterion | March 2, 2013

I'm not happy the thread was deleted but there is similar info at TMC (they also "moderate" and in at least one case TM management has asked that something be removed). The removed thread here was easily the most active, with 3222 posts as of Feb. 6, 2013. Fortunately @mliss, the history is not lost. Thanks to the wonders of the internet, nothing posted ever really goes away. Here is at least one archive of the deleted thread scanned on Feb. 7, 2013.

It could even be reposted verbatim in a new thread...
