Will SOME new public Model X orders be delivered before ALL current reservation holder orders?

Will SOME new public Model X orders be delivered before ALL current reservation holder orders?

NumberOne | April 12, 2016

Easy answer, NO. However, if you configured a 70D (75D) any 90D of above orders will be delivered before yours. Also, up until entering the production queue, P90D will get priority, but once you are in queue it is based on other factors including your location.

All five seaters will wait however long. Five - nine months or whatever longer even if you ordered 2.5 years ago.

I Applaud Tesla, that way I get unflawed vehicle.

elguapo | April 12, 2016

@LeonardD Not so easy. A 90D without premium that was ordered a month ago, or whatever, may in fact be delivered after a P90D with premium. We won't know until we start seeing deliveries.

6 weeks ago no one thought the 90Ds would be out before all Ps - or even all sigs, but there are 90D holders who ordered after P orders but got their cars first. This is based on ModelXTracker data and posts here.

elguapo | April 12, 2016

I meant to say delivered after a P90D with premium ordered today.

aesculus | April 12, 2016

I and a few other Californians got our 90D's way before some sigs and some P90's. If our cars were loaded (except P&L) and we took delivery in California, we jumped to the head of the pack. This may not be true anymore but it certainly was at the end of March.

jestah | April 12, 2016

Well it would be total bs if tesla doesn't deliver ALL vehicles in ALL configurations to those who placed a deposit and confirmed order before today.

The fact that new orders today have a specified month and the 5 seat still shows 'mid-2016' is insulting regardless of how flawless it will be. And if new orders today and going forward cause a greater delay in 'switching over' or whatever the hell they have to do at the factory to produce my loaded 90D 5 seat than the reservation and deposit system is a sham.

ernie | April 12, 2016

Just a thought: could be they do not have the seats for the 5 seat version which are probably different from the second row of the 7 seat version. Therefore, to avoid fulfilling all other orders would not be in anyone's best interest. Don't know, but just a guess.

vperl | April 13, 2016

Yes, Tesla never made the five seats but offered the option,

I Applaud Tesla for it's business sence and capacity to do the right thing by delivering me flawless vehicle.

Go five seaters, flawless MX.

DarthB | April 13, 2016

Of course--if you order a P90D (or maybe even a 90d) with California delivery, it's likely that you will get the car earlier than international reserved holders, or perhaps even some existing east coast orders depending on your configuration.

socalsam | April 13, 2016

The tesla reservation system is a sham??? Nooooo! Say it ain't so!

eric.zucker | April 13, 2016

Understandably Tesla wants to maximize the production and delivery rate of the X. I have no issues building them out of reservation sequence based on parts availability and shipping constraints.

My X has been configured 6 weeks ago, confirmed order one month ago, and no news since. There is no VIN displayed on MyTesla, only the reservation number. My delivery specialist has no more info (or can't tell).

It doesn't make sense building a car that they cannot ship to a customer. EU certification has begun (3rd row seat recall refers to this testing) ... I wonder how much rework is required, and if it will be done in Fremont or Tilburg.

vperl | April 14, 2016

Ezman, Pluto, ( yes I know it is not a planet), or elsewhere, Tesla will be there for you. Much like the mother with a newborn.

jestah | June 2, 2016

Has anyone who ordered after 4/12/16 (non-reservation) taken delivery of their X?

vperl | June 2, 2016

2.5 + years no MX P90DL five seater....

Is it June yet ? That is mid year ?

jwh8000 | June 3, 2016

I'm still waiting 90D premium 6 seater Chicago late April Early May delivery. Turns out it is mid June devilry. I heard it is on the train.

vperl | June 5, 2016

Glad, you ordered your X a few weeks ago and Tesla bypasses thousands of get your X.before folks that have waited three or so years.

Tesla has a plan, the " coming soon" plan .

Random delivery is not what thousands expected, but the Tesla plan is in effect.

eric.zucker | June 6, 2016

Vperl you do realize that ordering a custom 5 seat configuration means Tesla has to engineer a whole new version of the car just for you. Just think the tremendous resale value - it's going to be unique!

It's clearly not a single, global waiting list - in each local market, reservation holders get their cars first. Provided it's a config that is ready to be built. Then it opens to regular orders.

vperl | June 6, 2016

I feel bad for the folks that get the flawed X, mine will be perfect, January 2017 just a few weeks away, plus the 110 kW battery pak

vperl | June 7, 2016

Zman, thanks for reminding me, you are the answer guy.

vperl | December 3, 2016

Yep I knew, guess what bigger battery and enhanced full AP, an a year of practice building the X, with better parts and sensors.
