How we use our plug in connectors in our garage needs a bit of attention!
Because many of you do not understand the importance of a good mechanical connection when charging your Tesla. A good tight mechanical connection is necessary for a good electrical connection. Sagging or sloppy connectors are a fire risk!
I use a HPWC daily not a problem. All of you lauding your savings at using your portable cord kit for daily wall charging may be seeing why it is better to use fewer plug together parts. Adaptors equal potential loose connections ! Daily usage of push together parts raises the risk of heat related problems!
In most cases plug in appliances a not installed and uninstalled daily. This is what causes heat related issues. The female connector looses its grip after repeated use and things get hot with loose parts.
I am a Hardware man we sell wiring devices . Plug fires are common occurrences . Be sure you have tight fitting parts that don't run hot. Arching equals fires eventually! Be safe don't use over heated or heat compromised parts. Does your cord run very warm ? You are the one who is responsible to keep an eye on this issue in your garage. Be safe !
