Any ideas/word on when the order page (Design Center) will become active for MX?

Any ideas/word on when the order page (Design Center) will become active for MX?

My reservation # is in the 7Ks and I know it will be a while before I receive my car, which I don't mind. However, I would really like to at least be able to go to an order page like you can for a MS and configure my car the way I want it. I know for my MS I spent weeks/months contemplating my final configuration. I was constantly printing out my favorite configuration and after thinking about it for a period of time I would inevitably change something. It was half the fun and it certainly took most of the pain out of having to wait. It also acclimated me to the ultimate sticker shock.

My question is: When will we be able to configure our MXs so we can at least figure what we want and know the price, like we currently can for the MS?

I know it is a guess, but I thought someone might have some information or at least relate it to the rollout of the MS.

@Auto P85

I don't think anyone of us here are high Tesla executives so yes, it is a guess.

Most likely, the Launch Event happened because of the pressure to fulfill the timeliness promise.

Now, that promise is done, the next step is how to properly roll out the rest of the Founders, Signatures then General Production.

In the past, Founders got their cars first and gave feed back before ramping up the production.

Let Tesla does its job first. It has to done correctly.

You'll get the design center after all the Signature owners get access. They are rolling it out to small groups of Signature owners already. This is where the design center screenshots are coming from.

When will the Signature owners be done configuring? You might ask.

Some time after most the Signature owners take delivery of their cars. When might this be?

Some time after the first Signature owner gets their car! When will that be?

Sometime "soon".

All Signature holders have been given access to the Design Studio, just prior to the September 29th launch. My guess is that regular production holders will not get access till December, maybe later.

Either way, when you get access, you'll have plenty of time to play with the Design Studio before they get to your number, not to worry. If anything, you should be worrying about getting too much time to decide. ;-)

Actually just got this email from Tesla:

Model X deliveries have started in North America. Built electric from the ground up, Model X is designed to be the safest car in its class. It offers a breathtaking panoramic view and distinctive Falcon wing doors for convenient second and third row access. Model X provides 250 miles of range, while achieving 0-60 in 3.4 seconds for superior passing ability.

We will invite the next group of reservation holders to configure in the next few weeks. We hope to invite all current reservation holders to configure their cars before the end of 2015.

Whoops. Lets try this again

There's an email sent this morning to reservation holders that says configuration for the first group will start in a few weeks and they hope every reservation holder will get to do the configuration by end of this year. It's coming.

carlk | 7 octobre 2015

Did not see your post @aesculus. ;-)

Got the same email from Tesla this morning as well.

Progress......

Tanya_L | 7 octobre 2015

Placed a reservation on Oct 1st...have not received any email (Canada).

vandacca | 7 octobre 2015

I placed a reservations on Feb 9, 2012 (Canada #8) and I too did not get an Email. I don't expect to get an Email for a few more months (December?). Even if they start inviting general US holders now, it should be many months before they actually get to start the build. They should have over 1,000 Sig cars to build, so that will probably take them to the end of year.

Thanks for the guesses.

The email from Tesla that aesculus, carlk, and geemoney3135 received is interesting because it says, "We will invite the next group of reservation holders to configure in the next few weeks." The question then becomes, who is the next GROUP? If they have finished all the Signature owners as vandacca said, then who is next? Based on Tam's response the next group should be general production after the sigs. But given the last part of the email, which said, 'We hope to invite all current reservation holders to configure their cars before the end of 2015' is saying there are at least two groups. The 'next' group and ultimately (although there could be other groups before this) the general production group.

At least it seems clear the design studio will be open to all before the end of the year.

Thanks for the information and vandacca, I meant what I said, as long as the design studio is available, I will keep myself occupied and time will fly by before I have to make my final decision and get my MX :).

@Auto P85

That's a good summary that you did.

Founders were invited
Signatures were invited

Next group will be.........General Production!!!!!!!

SeanB.UT.US | 7 octobre 2015

Have all the foreign sigs already configured?

johnse | 8 octobre 2015

Next group is likely one of: General Production, or non-US Signatures...

For those who did not get the email, check your profile and see if you have the "Send me Tesla updates" box checked. If this is not checked, they cannot send you emails like these...same issue I think with those who did not receive invitations to the launch.

I'm very much on the bullish side when it comes to the numbers. I think they're going to make at least the low end of 50,000 cars--which would mean somewhere in the 5000 range of Model X. My personal guess is they'll hit between 7000-8000 this year placing them squarely in the middle of the range they're guiding. The delivered more Model S cars in Q3 than they did in Q2 and that's with the factory shut down for a week.

I've heard differing reports on whether the S is being built on the new line. My understanding after the factory closure was that it was being built there. Or perhaps some are being built on Line 2 to help validate the line and others on Line 1?

I think the press (nor we) really have an idea of what is going on inside that factory--and I think we're going to be surprised.

The email today said they hope to have all reservation holders configure before the end of 2015. I don't think that was a typo, and I think the current backlog will be completely cleared by June.

@SeanB.OR.US

Good question.

If I remembered last time as USA General Productions Model S started to roll out, exported Model S Signature Series got started later.

I was told on original reservation delivery to me here in Germany would be Spring 2016.

Frankly I will be surprised if I am driving a Tesla X by this time next year. They are clearly way off producing these things in anything close to volume. They will undershoot the 50,000 target for 2015. They only managed 33,117 units to the end of September.

I want to love this car and the concept but I just don't think they can make them.

Why they bothered dicking about with those silly rear doors I have no idea? If you are in a tight parking spot it's pretty useless only being able to open the rear doors as you still can't get into the frigging driver's seat. The way normal car doors open is fine for 99.9% of the population 99.9% of the time.

And the daft windscreen. Nice maybe but why couldn't they just build an electric SUV with normal doors, normal windows and a folding rear seat for crissakes?

darlin | 8 octobre 2015

Got an email last night that I should be able to configure my Model X before the end of 2015. Also, the Reservation numbers have left the main X page.
