I received the remote control Roadster with batteries (nice touch). Just wanted to say, thanks again!
My thanks as well Elon (and everyone else at Tesla!!)
Dido, It was a nice surprise and my four year old is having a blast with the remote Roadster. Tesla is now a household name in our house.
Thank You Tesla.
I'm gonna have to look into getting one of these things. Might tide me over until I can get the real thing :p
Thank you very much, TESLA! I love the color.
I am playing with the idea to refit it with new RC, servo steering, variable speed control. And a more powerful battery, of course :-)
Thank, and you even got it in my favorit color
I've been enjoying driving mine around the office. :-)
Got the RC Roadster last week. Very cool, it would have been better if it was RC Model S, next year ?
I had fun telling everyone that Tesla sent a roadster to drive until my S was built. They don't need to know it was RC and a foot long. Thanks! Nice marketing touch.
Great gift Elon but no variable speed control?
Power to weight ratio is the same though with loads of wheel spin and like VolkerP, I think a rebuild is required!
The model behaves exactly like non believers think electric cars are like to drive until they see my Lotus Elise EV actually moving.
It doesn't go like a Roadster but it still feels like one. :)
Roll on my "S".
Indeed, thanks! A friend of mine (who ordered a Roadster 2.5) got his red one somewhere around christmas.
As a reservation owner I got my Orange (Very cool btw!) yesterday, supercool :) Haven't tried it yet, but we'll definitely have some dragraces between our Red and Orange RC Roadsters ;)
Did I miss something? Are they sending these out to reservation holders?
I think my five year old was happiest about it. I
@mcornwell, yes, reservation holders got a remote control Roadster from "Elon."
Only in America, or in Europe too?
Am in Canada and i received one this week ...
And in Europe as well, mine came this thursday (Denmark)
Geez, I'm in California and haven't received one yet. :-(
@mcornwell Yeah... their approach to things like this makes no sense. It is a great idea, but the fulfillment is confusing. The last schwag pack most people got in July I got in October. This time I got the remote control car along with most others, while you are still waiting. They might consider a better fulfillment agency for future schwag.
Seems like everyone is getting a sweater or an RC car! I want some Tesla gear!
Honestly, I do not care for the schwag. If only they could finally offer an extensive test drive with the roadster to me, I would be more than happy. I have been trying to get a ride since I made my reservation on the Model S back in April 2009. I would even be traveling from Berlin to Munich on my own cost (they opened a Tesla store in Munich in September 2009). But no matter how or whom I ask, they won't offer me a ride. It's been a really frustrating experience.
@Volker - I'm with you. I want to drive the car, select my options and take delivery!
It was a nice surprise for the new year. But why mister Elon, I shall have my car after my six year old nephew nefew? Thanks again and good luck
Would like to hear the rants in this forum if Elon had sent the 1/16 RC controlled roadster without the RC unit :-)
wait, if you reserve a spot, you received a RC car? or was it by special request? same thing with a jacket...?
Question for all who received their RC Roadster:
Until I started re-reading this thread I thought it was Roadster owners who were getting the RC car. Maybe I have one waiting for me at home. I've been away for about a month. I did get the mugs, T-Shirt, cap, very small Roadster and cards sometime last summer.
You say there's not necessarily a relation between production number and when you receive it?
Don't think so. I've got P1 (albeit in Europe) and have not received an RC roadster so far. Let alone an invitation to test drive the real one, which would mean much more to me than the RC kit... (No, I am not passively "waiting" to get invited, I asked a couple of times...)
Should be test drives for the Model S by end of this year according to danish Tesla rep. They need to make something more than the Alpha first, don't u think.
Thanx to Elon, btw. I got my Happy new year gift (R/C roadster) and card this monday. Could have been last friday, but I wasn't home. Delivered by FedEx. I have only reserved a standard Model S, so it seems to have nothing to do with what u have reserved, and when u reserved it. Hope u get your gift soon, Volker:-)
@ Kallisman, what is your reservation number .. just seeing how long it took you to receive any gift after you reserved ... and it was all as a surprise i take it?
I don't believe it was a gift for having reserved. My impression was that it was a new years gift for people who were owners and reservation holders at that time.
I'm P299 in Europe. Reserved in july 2010.
It was surprise in the way that I didn't know when I reserved that Tesla send gifts, but I had read about it here on the forum before I got it. I agree with clea111 that it's a new years gift, so if u just reserved it might be too late. Maybe u get something next time;-)
My thanks as well for the R/C roadster. It was a good surprise for the New Year.
I'm P2747, reserved in early December, and no gift for me.
For the record, that little Roadset remote control saved my day. Snow day with kids; it was the perfect distraction for them so I could get work done! Now my 5 yearold wants me to get a "real one." I told my wife it was for the children, but I still don't think she'll let me get a Roadster...
Very nice suprise.An orange roadster....
But small label on back of box says contains lead harmful if swallowed, may create lead dust (made in china)... so I would keep away from the kids just in case. The wife wont let the baby get near it. P1395
I think pretty much all electronics contains lead. It's used for soldering. Not sure why it would make lead dust, but it's probably good to keep it away from babies anyway. After all it says on the package that it's not for children under 3 years.
Considering the wrapping, it didn't really look like it was supposed to be unwrapped at all:-P Not that I dislike a challenge, but it's not often I need a screwdriver to unwrap a toy.
lol I forgot about the screwdriver, and the free batteries from who else...panasonic, nice touch.
ps Think lead is in the paint.
Lead has been phased out of most electronics, since Europe banned its use some years ago.
Well, I have to add my thanks as well.
My daughter had gone to my house to install an eSATA drive I had ordered on my main computer.
She said a package from Tesla had also arrived. For all I know, it may have already been there over a month. I'm P1649.
I'm guessing that's the RC Tesla.
In hindsight we never just said "Thanks"....
Thank You Tesla Gang!!
We are truly anticipating a test drive of our Model S!!
We drove the roadster and were both impressed with the regenerative braking aspect of the vehicle...we saw first hand how it would reduce response time in case of an accident.
Love these cars!
Never thought of the response time angle. Interesting! Wonder if there are any stats on that ...
Mr Musk, Please send timo a little remote car, he's earned it just on volume of information provided. Incredible how this man knows this car. Intricate details do not phase him.
I hope it doesn't faze you when I point out that "phase" is almost impossible to use as a verb, because it means stage in time, or state of matter. As a verb, it is (rarely) used to mean arrange or sequence something.
BrianH, Your correction certainly does not "faze" me. Thanks for the vocabulary lesson as, honestly, I didn't know or had forgotten there was such a word as "faze". Incredible it must be. I just used the dictionary and you are absolutely right. Do you have a remote car, if not, think you deserve one too as you take the trouble to confront mistakes and keep a high standard on the site. You also give a lot of seemingly well documented technical information to. Thanks for making the effort to correct me. Now can you imagine what kind of response your correction would have drawn from me just a couple of months or so ago. Still going for "most improved poster" what do you think?
Not tea bags!
BrianH, Sorry to be so "unhip" but please clarify "not tea bags".
Say it fast!
Like, "Thanks" in Frenglish is "Mercy buckets!" And "Good-bye" in Germlish is "Our feet are stained!" Etc.
You are a trip man. So I got "not too bad" So in Elvinsh I will say "thnkyavermuch". Surely all this is not off topic,ha.
Careful, we might have to "leave the building".
I am in Australia with reservation number p 17. No sign of a RC roadster or any other direct contact here!!!!
I was at the Geneva Motor Show a couple of weeks ago with my boys and while I was inspecting the Model S chassis the head of EU sales spontaneously came to me with a couple (one fore each) of Hot Wheels Tesla Roadster S so I can't complain...
