How many miles have you done in your Model S?

Hi guys,
Just wondering, as some people will have had their car for nearly 6 months now, how many miles have you put on your Model S? Has there been any effect on total battery/charge capacity?
Wonder if we can find out who has put the most miles on their Model S to date?

Also wondering if any reliability issues have popped up over this time? Not so much the softward stuff which can be fixed with updates but more like squeaking, rattling, and other physical build quality issues.
I see potential battery capacity issues and these build quality issues as being the only major potential "deathblow" left for Tesla as cars get more and more miles put on them. If cars can start getting to the 60,000 - 100,000 mile mark without any major issues in this regard I think Tesla is here to stay.

I have ~12,000 miles on mine. The car is working great. I've done lots of long and medium distance travel, including using superchargers several times. I've had no problems worth mentioning!

Although today I got my first paint chip from an idiot motorcycler that was racing on Skyline and passed 3 cars (with a double yellow). Sprayed a couple rocks on my S, luckily it is just a tiny spot on the hood. Grrr....

I've put on just over 1,000 miles in just under a month...Mostly local miles, with one 100-mile trip to and from NYC (Where I learned that 100 miles of mostly highway driving at around 65mph uses about 130 rated miles of charge.)

I have not been able to observe battery degradation. I have seen recent standard charges of 245 rated miles, and I don't think I did better then that when the car was new (although the scale was different at first). Of course, I think there should be some degradation, and I have been less than scientific in keeping track.

Tires are also holding up great. I expect they will last well more than 20,000 miles.

I will probably get my annual service shortly. I'll try to remember to post an update when that is done.

Dadaleus: depending on how Tesla has set up battery management, battery degradation may not show up as a reduced "standard charge". What you will see, however, is a reduction in battery efficiency, i.e., the number of real miles traveled vs. rated miles. Li ion batteries have a limited number of charging cycles (generally on the order of 700 - 900) so depending on how many charging cycles your battery has experienced will determine how far down the discharge curve your battery has gone.

Battery will not be dead at that point and degradation is not linear so (usually) 71% -> 70% takes longer than 100% -> 99%.

5300 miles so far. No noticeable battery degradation. However, there is a huge variation from battery performance in cold and warm weather.
I doubt you will have any reliable battery degradation until people can compare the same season they first received the car.

Teddyg- nope no paint armor. I have a pearl white and it was just too noticeable on the white to put on. It is bound to happen, just sucks when it happens that way.

Your arithmetic is wrong. 12K ~= 10% of 125K, so 10% of 25% degradation = 2.5%, not 5%.

3100+, took delivery 12/15, factory pick up and local driving. I admit I have added to the miles. It's my husband's daily driver and I take it out at night to run errands. Just trying to conserve gas money on my car. Gas is expensive... :)

That has me thinking. Is Tesla going to have an owners site where my car reports its data and I can view it?

People have been musing about what apps might be like the car, but there is potentially a lot of data to share. People could probably come up with some pretty interesting dekstop apps too that you use when you're not in your car.

5,300 miles and two minor issues so far: the maps program was hanging up, and that sort of just fixed itself. Also, my charge cable failed, but was replaced the next day at Tesla Menlo Park. For about 4,000 miles now, nothing but amazing driving.

4,900 miles in the first 3 months of ownership.
I am noticing some "creaking" in the front suspension at slow speeds when turning and going over small bumps or potholes. I'll have that looked at the next time I bring it in to the service folks.

I haven't noticed charging or usage degradation in the battery yet. The most noticable (as has already been mentioned) is the ambient temperature affect on charging. If it's cold, the standard charge goes to somewhere around 238 rated miles. If it's warm it goes to around 243 rated miles. Also, charging in cold temperatures is a bit slower due to having to use some input power to keep the battery warm during charging - hence less power going to charge the battery.

Only 2k on my 3 month old Model S, but my Accord I sold before this car had 35k on it after driving it for 7 years. I don't put a lot of miles on my cars, but this is the first car I enjoy driving since turning 18.

No major issues to speak of, some little things with USB music and other issues that I think were solved with the software update. Tesla Menlo Park fixed the passenger side door closure issue, just popped a plug at the base used for excess water drainage to relieve pressure when the door is pushed to close.

I do wish I had a 500 mile battery pack because even with as little driving as I do, I eat through the 300 mile pack fast!!

@BYT you have to keep the Model S plugged when you are not using it. The more the car is driven the more efficiency you'll realize.

5,000 miles and 3 months and 8 days today. My standard charge capacity seems to have increased 0.4% from 243 to 244 miles. So no noticeable battery loss yet...

A relative of mine just donated a vehicle that had 187,000 miles on it. It's fuel economy was 18mpg. Maybe averaged $3.35 per gallon ... So they spent over $34k.

For all those that can possibly calculate, how much money have you spent to charge your MS in order to travel all those miles you have this far?

I've got 3200 on mine. I'm seeing lots of questions about battery performance over time/miles. Here's what I've noticed so far. I got my S in October. I was initially getting around 315Wh/mi on our usual 130 mile trip to the in-laws and back. As it got colder the Wh/mi went up to the highest of 330Wh/mi. Have noticed it dropping lately. We did 605 miles on the Vegas trip and averaged 322Wh/mi really pushing the car. A few weeks ago, we did the in-law trip and got 305Wh/mi. Just now, with weather nearing the 70's we got our best yet, 290Wh/mi. That's flirting with ideal range right there! That doing 70-75 on the freeway. Even duked it out with a Fisker, if you want to call it that, but it was fun. Shut him down and gave him a thumbs up. He returned the thumbs up. Cool.
So it seems to me, so far the weather affects the range more than any degradation. My range is the best its ever been after 3000 miles. Having more fun with less anxiety every trip!

12,500 Miles in my Sig so far. No range degradation issues so far. Used the Super Chargers along the I-5 from SF to SD several times. Best road trips ever. Heard there has been some crowding problems at the charger in Coalinga, but I haven't had any.

Heard they are also building aq larger charing station in Coalinga coming soon.

3,000 miles over 40 days. Located in South Florida, I have averaged 335 watts/mile (and I drive it like I stole it).

I just looked at my power bill: it went up $100 (had the car the entire time span of the bill). That's 30 miles per dollar.

We just went over 8000 yesterday after receiving the car a bit over 6 months ago. The battery doesn't seem to have degraded a bit.

We've driven a couple of 800+ trips from the SF Bay area to LA/OC using Superchargers. The ONLY way to go. I can hardly wait until there are Superchargers everywhere! Right now I'd love to see some into Arizona and up into Oregon. Soon, I'm sure.

Our Roadster is almost 4 years old with almost 30K miles. The battery may have lost around 10 miles of range in that time.

Tesla's proof-of-concept Roadster and the real-car Model S are the best cars we've ever owned. And now we have no ICE cars! Heck, I don't even put ICE in my sodas!!!

The worst thing about the MS is when you find yourself forced to rent and drive an ICE. I can't wait to see more superchargers installed throughout the East Cost, so I won't have to go through this again.
