Now off to make some choices... P779

Got my "It's Time to Build Your Model S" email today. #8872
Completed my configuration and they're estimating February/March delivery

rallykeeper | 19 novembre 2012

By the way, the MVPA comes quickly. I finalized at 2:07 pm and had my MVPA by 2:21.

I'm now all electronically signed and counting the days until delivery.

mkent | 19 novembre 2012

Time to Build P#9,045. Finalized: Grey with Grey interior, Pano roof, 21' silver wheels, tech package, parcel shelf, and February/March Delivery! South Carolina will have another Tesla Model S!!!

Getting Amped Again | 19 novembre 2012

P#8756 notice was received in the batch with rallykeeper and Alex K. Going with Pearl White, Gray Leather, 60 kWh, Obeche Matte, Tech, Air Suspension and Sound Studio. Only drive 50 miles a day but like that under-six second 0-60 time - not a lot of four door sedan company there.

For those that are still configuring - the Obeche wood has both gray and tan colors in it and matches both the tan and gray interiors. You can't really tell that online, go see it in person if you possibly can.

@rallykeeper - I thought your timetable calculations were way too optimistic when you first posted them, but now think you have Magical Powers! Don't let me down dude.

schumonster | 19 novembre 2012

Got my email TTB email today as well. #9053 for those who are counting. If expected delivery is Feb/Mar. 2013 for @rallykeeper #8961 who is 100 cars in front of me, I can imagine I would be at the back of that window.

Does anyone have a sense of how long does one has to make this decision? There are forces at play in my world that would make this a much easier commit in 4 weeks time.

lajollan | 19 novembre 2012

Just got off the phone with delivery specialist. You have as much time as you want, no deadline.

lajollan | 19 novembre 2012

Above @ schumonster

Getting Amped Again | 19 novembre 2012

Oh and my MVPA says that it's a 2013 model year.

TQGQ | 19 novembre 2012

I'm sequence 8665 and I got my build email

Schlumpf | 19 novembre 2012

Got my notice to build at 3:59 CT #9083. Definitely going with the 60 kWh version but still on the fence with active air suspension and the pano roof.

Getting Amped Again | 19 novembre 2012

@Schlumpf - there are posts about people that need to set the air suspension to High or Very High to prevent scraping the car bottom (and possibly the nose) when changing slope, like when entering a parking garage or steep driveway. I personally think you'd hate your decision if that happened to you every day!

IMHO the Active Air Suspension is the absolute must-have option right after leather seating (because they are heated).

rallykeeper | 19 novembre 2012

@schumonster - there was something in the finalization process that implied that you had until December 20th (with this TTB e-mail to get the same delivery time as finalizing now). I can't seem to find that now, though.

@gettingampedsoon - I'll keep up the magical thinking. I think it's somewhat interesting that the range seems to be almost 600 cars with this batch (which followed a batch last week of about 600 cars). That either means that they have an expected cancellation rate of 33% or they are thinking about ramping up to beyond 400/week. The nice thing for Tesla is that by giving us a 2 month time frame, they have a lot of flexibility to make that decision much later in the process (e.g., once they see the full impact on reservations of COY).

I'm rooting for a ramp-up of production by January 1. Delivery by 2/1!!

Getting Amped Again | 19 novembre 2012

@rallykeeper - if you get a 2/1 delivery I'll buy your first month's worth of gas - premium!

Chuck Lusin | 19 novembre 2012

I also got mine at 2:00 today, 11/19/2012. P8467!

Brian H | 19 novembre 2012

The story has been that your "place in line" doesn't budge for 30 days. After that, it starts to slip, and you re-enter the sequence after any preceding confirmations. YMMD.

gary.greene | 19 novembre 2012

Time to build-ya baby! P9004-got my email at 2 pm today, 11/19/2012!! Stoked!!! Great Thanksgiving present!!

DLM270 | 19 novembre 2012

Yeah! Received my "time to configure" email today. P 9001

sgpaul | 19 novembre 2012

Got my TTB e-mail @ 04:59 PM EST today. I must have barely made the cut for this round...#9061.

MB3 | 19 novembre 2012

Lousy day at work suddenly made great. Sequence 8751 now in the queue. P85/Blue/Grey/Matte Obeche/Tech/Stereo/grey 21".
I don't see how, but they said Feb/March. It is probably wishful thinking that it come early March.

Brian H | 19 novembre 2012

Actually, the computer has gone a bit loopy and is running ahead of itself. Add 4 months to your times.
Just Kidding! Almost sounds like another shift at full bore is being added, and post-MT CoTY reservations are going ballistic. Like Elon suggested. I thought he was rather laying it on sorta thick about the effect of that award, but mebbe not!

Brian H | 19 novembre 2012

As a side note, this is the 2nd day running of $1+ jumps in the share price. Does somebody know something?

TeslaModelSOwner | 19 novembre 2012

Looks like P9061 appears to be the highest sequence number to receive an email thus far. From TMC I found somebody indicating that you could expect delivery sooner than later if you configured with 85kwh and air suspension options as it means that TM does not have to re-tool.

I am I being too optimistic to think that i will get a finalize your order email before the end of the year and my car by march/april if I go with the 85kwh and air suspension?

I know Elon wanted to get production to a rate of 400/week, however, he may be trying to provide a suprise for the 10-k and show that post winning car of the year he has surged past projections for both orders and production rate.

what do you guys think?

mrspaghetti | 19 novembre 2012

9083 is the highest I've seen (Schlumpf)

bsimoes | 20 novembre 2012

#8554 I got my email yesterday and didn't even know it; work has been crazy lately, so I go days without firing up the computer at home. Wow--the moment of truth...I'm kinda curious about the price increase and how they are going to rebundle options. I need to know how the whole "snow tire" issue can work before I sign. I'll need to spend some time on the phone tomorrow...WooHoo, I think!?

youlikeadajuice | 20 novembre 2012

9088 did not get an I guess the end of this batch is somewhere between 9083-9087!

Chuck Lusin | 20 novembre 2012

Just some stats for this last batch, it started at 8,370 and ended at 9083, for a total of 713. That is a odd number!

nickjhowe | 20 novembre 2012

@chuck - not only is it odd, it is prime. :-)

skystream3.7 | 20 novembre 2012

what price increase? | 20 novembre 2012

Check the Tesla Bulletin Board...increase & option changes to be announced soon.

skystream3.7 | 20 novembre 2012

aaron.s | 22 novembre 2012

I'm #9,094 - talk about close!

I'm ready to Finalize! Been monitoring my email like a hawk!

Brian H | 22 novembre 2012

as an existing res holder, you'll have a reasonable period from whenever you get your finalize email. Only if you defer (too long) will the new pricing affect you.

aaron.s | 23 novembre 2012

Not worried about the price increase - just want to get that finalize button! Big next step in the whole process and makes me feel more like a Model S owner!

Brian H | 23 novembre 2012

The later a customer reserves, the less time he will wait; just the way the system works in a ramping production environment. ;)

mrspaghetti | 24 novembre 2012

Want to keep this thread near the top!

Nicu.Mihalache | 25 novembre 2012

@ nickjhowe

good joke, but let me spoil it for you: 713 = 23 * 31

mrspaghetti | 27 novembre 2012

Should be about time for a new round of emails. Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

markapeterman | 27 novembre 2012

I'm 9318 and was expecting to hear something yesterday, but just crickets so far.

jat | 27 novembre 2012

@markapeterman - I'm right with you at #9358, and I am hopeful to get that email any minute as well...

Perhaps the Thanksgiving holiday pushed it back a day or two.

Brian H | 27 novembre 2012

Probably digesting all the info: this is the first time TM has had large input of choice of battery size by P-res, and so on for the whole suite of options. That impacts planning, parts, and much more.

mrspaghetti | 29 novembre 2012

bump (again)

Any new "Time To Build" emails?

markapeterman | 29 novembre 2012

9318 - still crickets.

Jcmason | 29 novembre 2012

#9096 - nothing here yet either, other than a mail from Tesla this morning about the upcoming price increases. That mail also stated that: "You will likely receive your invitation to configure between now and the end of January, depending on when you made your reservation".

Stgwbrown | 2 décembre 2012

#11045 and I received the same letter. Is this letter customized to the recipient other than the "Dear xxxxxxxx" heading?

pbrulott | 2 décembre 2012

Same here. P179 Can (not to mention that I reserved in August 2011 at the time US Ps were in the 4600s). It is a question of a few days/weeks.

stephen.kamichik | 3 décembre 2012
