* = On March 1, 2011, a Tesla member posted, "Got the following info from Tesla some days ago: In Europe they have reduced the Signature down to 500 and approximately 70 have been reserved." While 55 is a confirmed/posted reservation number from this forum, the 70 has yet to be verified by the actual European reservation holder.

ckessel | 11 novembre 2011

Or the final price isn't really close to their original 80k.

CPM | 11 novembre 2011

Watched 3 people last night upgrade from production to signature at the Oakbrook, Il gala. Store is in a great location. It will be cool to see how the reservations jump when the store is opened to the public. Any bets on how they do on black Friday?

Mycroft | 11 novembre 2011

We haven't seen any numbers recently. Hope to see some big 'uns when some are posted.

michiganmodels | 12 novembre 2011

I'm posting to see if anyone reserved or upgraded this week or have plans to this weekend.

discoducky | 12 novembre 2011

No plans to upgrade as I'd rather leave the money on TSLA stock. It's nearly paid for the freakin car already, c'mon $40!

I don't mind waiting a bit longer and I want the option to get the Sequoia Green if it looks as good as it did on the wall in the Bellevue store.

xhawk1011 | 13 novembre 2011

Just reserved production series yesterday! Emboldened too by my TESLA stock up 48% nice Sept. I have a feeling they will have a surge of orders soon, much quicker than it has been so far when the 'general public' gets wind of this car. Can't want to see one in person :)

Robert.Boston | 13 novembre 2011

@xhawk1011: Welcome! Please post in this thread your reservation number when you get it, along with the date it was assigned. Also, please post where you live in the "Where will your Model S reside?" thread.

Why isn't the Sig list budging? These people signing up for them must have real lives or something. Imagine not checking the forum 10 times a day for updates. I just can't imagine!

blurry_eyed | 15 novembre 2011

Here is my theory as to why the Sig list isn't budging, take it with a grain of salt :-).

With the opening of the new stores recently, people who wander into the stores and see the car are those that really don't know much about Tesla and may not know about the forums. So maybe in a sense that's good for Tesla that they may be tapping into a whole different market now. If they really want a car sooner, they may be making Signature orders and just don't think about going online to check out the website and forums. Just my crazy thought.

michiganmodels | 15 novembre 2011

@mralexklee - I agree. It would be nice if/when Tesla emailed the reservation confirmations to the "brick and mortar" reservation holders, they included a direct link to the forums :-)

Robert.Boston | 15 novembre 2011

Could well be, Alex; if suddenly we see a big jump in the sequence numbers, your theory will be confirmed.

brianman | 15 novembre 2011

Generally speaking, there's potentially a behavior pattern difference between internet buyers and retail buyers.

Personally speaking, I fit one of the two buckets for each purchase type.

Examples:
When I buy something technical and/or over $1000, I scout the internet first. Read forums a bit to see what people are whining about (and from that try to glean the legitimate criticisms), compare offerings of competitors, evaluate market price, etc.

When I buy a cheap commodity (toothpaste, laundry detergent), I don't research it at all.

The former scenario led me to this forum before reserving. For some, the internet involvement with the purchase is always zero and the retail stores are the primary venue that pulls in such customers.

This difference might explain why many retail-store-motivated reserves are not showing up here.

Even so, I would expect that the periodic internet buyer would show up and spike the U.S. tally by another 100 for P or 20 for S.

rdgreene | 15 novembre 2011

@michiganmodels -- Actually, Tesla does help your cause. I knew about these forums before I signed up, but hadn't become a member (I was just a unsigned-in reader). When I got my email confirmation of my Sig reservation, about 5 minutes later, I also got a notification that my account had been created for the member site/forums.

jackhub | 15 novembre 2011

Hey! We could be really optimistic and assume that Tesla is so overwhelmed with reservations they don't have time, or are way behind in sending out reservation numbers! ;)

kublai | 15 novembre 2011

I may upgrade to Sig depending on final pricing and options. Is a Sig upgrade just a matter of calling them up?

michiganmodels | 15 novembre 2011

@xhawk1011 - Welcome! Now your what begins :-) If you can't wait until 2013, you can always upgrade to a Signature Series. There's only 150 or so left :-)

xhawk1011 | 15 novembre 2011

I will be waiting for the 'cheap' model. Hoping the stereo competes with my present slk benz stereo.

Mycroft | 15 novembre 2011

"Hoping the stereo competes with my present slk benz stereo."

I have an SLK55 myself, and given the amount of ambient road noise, even with the top up, I don't think it will be much competition to the Model S stereo. :)

rdgreene | 16 novembre 2011

@michiganmodels -- yeah, I did, I was S580 a while back. I waited until I could sit in the S to make sure I would fit. It was a long wait (I would have gone for the Roadster, but alas.... just too small).

David M. | 16 novembre 2011

@xhawk1011 - Welcome! Glad to see another customer from central Florida. I'm down in Sarasota P2624. I hope Tesla is taking note of all the new customers in the Sarasota, St. Petersburg, Tampa, Orlando area. We're hoping for a new Tesla Store somewhere in the Tampa area in 2012. From where we are, you can't make it to the Miami store without stopping in the everglades to plug-in to a non-existing charger!

TESLA did you hear that? We need a new store in Tampa's International Plaza.

Preferably before I take delivery of my Model S.

thanks!

Hi

Can some one explain to my what the Sig special list stands for and does S+SSL count together to 1000 Sigs for the US?

And, are the 100 Iceland cars on this list. If so, where?

AndrewB | 18 novembre 2011

what is an SSL ?

Mycroft | 18 novembre 2011

The Sig special list is of Roadster owners who signed up for a Signature Edition S. We think the S+SSL added together make up the 1,000 US sigs, but we simply don't know for sure.

Same with the 100 Iceland cars. They should be part of the European list, but we don't know for sure.

Brian H | 18 novembre 2011

I think the Icelander paid 100x$5,000, not $100x$40,000, so they're not Sigs. Merely loaded 300-milers, or SLT. :D

VolkerP | 19 novembre 2011

Brian,

where in Iceland would you go 300 miles? The whole island is 200x100 miles...

Timo | 19 novembre 2011

250 x 150 miles is closer. Roads are quite long around the island. From one end to another is probably more than 300 miles using roads. Also that 300 miles is in optimal conditions. At winter you wont get that much there.

Mycroft | 19 novembre 2011

The cars are for a ride sharing system and could in theory be used off and on all day long.
