I am sure that reservations will increase significantly when there are Model Xs in the Tesla stores to look at, very few people I know would plunk down reservation money for something they never seen. Reservations will really pick up when deliveries start... look at the pattern in Model S reservations...

I made a reservation for a Model X Signature for Panama (Central America) and the response I got was that these cars are not available for my location. Later in the day I got an email saying that my reservation was complete but no reservation number was included (Dec 30th, 2012).

My guess is that Tesla does not have a store close by. I will call on Jan 2nd to find out what is going to happen.

Yes I also believe that reservation numbers for Model X will increase significantly once they get a few prototypes in the stores for people to look at. Also people know the car isn't even going into production for another year so probably feel like they will hold onto their money for a little while longer until more details are available (we still don't even know how many Tesla plans to build in 2014!)...I would think more details on the Model X will have to be released by Q1 2013 if they are serious about early 2014 Model X deliveries.

anton.arnesen | 2 janvier 2013

I reserved the car mid-November and made the payment in the beginning of December.

I have finally got a #-number. The number is:
#2212

I really hope that the car is produced at least before end 2014, since the all electric incentive scheme in Norway is ending after 50 000 registered all-electric cars.

I drove behind an all new Nissan Leaf yesterday with Licenceplate EL18453. I.e. about 22 000 all electric cars before the scheme ends.
( A total of about 140 000 cars are sold in Norway annually and the rate of all electric is about 800 a month!)

jaime | 3 janvier 2013

Juan, please let me know what you find out. I am also interested in reserving a Model X for Panama.

Good luck!

Brian H | 6 janvier 2013

Anton, your arithmetic is pessimistic. 22,000 + 18,000 = 40,000. So you've actually go 28,000 more to go. At 800/mo, that's 35 months, or end of 2015.

michiganmodels and Brian - We are #2448, made on 1/17 at 7 PM central. I don't know how someone got #2354 a day after us.

We reserved production, not signature. When configuration time comes, we'll figure the benefits of battery size, performance or not, 2WD or 4WD, etc. We have the 85KWh Model S, not performance, and it feels like it's on PEDs already!

I am hoping the production delay to mid-2014 might give time for a larger battery to be incorporated into the car. 100KWh would be a magical number (and also lift the Model S well over 300 miles if available there too.)

Is it possible to find out:
- How many Model X Reservations have been made with a 60 kWh battery?
- How many Model X Reservations have been made with a 85 kWh battery?

jkfarber | 25 janvier 2013

I upgraded my X to the Signature.

Reservation #321 1/25/13

Neige | 25 janvier 2013

They don't ask you which size battery you want when you make your reservation. As for myself, I'm getting the 85 kWh battery but hoping they'll make a 100 kWh.

WSE51 | 25 janvier 2013

Reservation Sequence Number 2559 just issued 10 am on 1/25/13 ... moved over from a deposit on Model S. That's a lot of new reservations in the past 2 weeks.

Benz | 26 janvier 2013

@jason.archibald
OK, you are right about that.
When you will be asked to finalize your car, then you can tell them which battery pack you want. And that moment in time will be 3 months before the actual production date.

And if possible I would also prefer a 100 kWh Battery Pack. But time will tell.

Benz | 3 février 2013

Almost a year ago the Tesla Model X was revealed by Elon Musk.

In this period up to January 31, 2013, 3,287 reservations for the Tesla Model X have been made.

Now, I personally think that as from now the average number of reservations per month for the Tesla Model X are going to increase. Compared to the existing present 3,287 reservations for the Tesla Model X up to now, twice as many as that number will be made in the remaining 11 months of this year, resulting in a total number of reservations for the Tesla Model X being about 10,000 by the end of 2013.

Jack_L | 3 février 2013

Went to put a deposit on a Model X today and was told I should put the deposit on a Model S for now. The sales rep said this way I could soon test drive the Model S (due to demand they can only offer drives with deposits) and that if/when I switch to the Model X I will be assigned a production number based on if I had made my deposit today. I likes the Model S but found the back seat lacking headroom for average ht folks. I'm 5' 11" and could not sit back without hitting my head....hope the X is "taller" inside. Does this sound right?
