Phantom drain root cause.

Phantom drain root cause.

I am driving my SR+ hardly ever since stay at home orders went into effect back in March. I typically lose 1 or two miles of range as the M3 stays parked in my garage.

I recently bought a usb game controller to check out the Arcade games. I went with the wired LogiTech F310 based on recommendations on this forum. I left the controller connected to the USB port with the car parked overnight. Today I realized the estimated range decreased by 10 miles. I immediately disconnected the game controller.

So it appears that even though the wired controller is a passive device, when connected to the USB port, it causes the M3 to expend energy needlessly while parked overnight.

I bought a wireless controller that has an on/off switch, and while the wireless USB thumbnail is plugged into the car, as long as the wireless controller is turned off, no drain.

Also use lithium batteries in the controller itself, to avoid long-term battery leakage damage
