Will demand for the Model 3 be high enough that Model S owners will sell their privileged spots in line to people who want the car ASAP?
Nah. This isn't like, Rolling Stones tickets or sumphin'...
Can't be done.
Reservations are not transferable.
Ok, what if they bought the car and flipped it as soon as they got it? Would that be possible?
Flipping did happen with the Model S. It only happened for a couple cars because of the loss of the tax incentives.
Will the tax incentive even be around when the Model 3 launches? Debatable, right?
It'll definitely be around when Model 3 launches, but that shouldn't be your major source of payment.
That said, I'm sure people will still be able to sell it for a profit (flipping). But, I'm assuming most of what is happening today is for personal or personal company usage.
I suspect people will definitely order a Model 3 and then flip it, but not so much for profit, more for novelty...fairly low investment, definitely will resell
