Battery Warranty

Battery Warranty

Does anyone know how the 8 year battery warranty work on the 85kw? I know it is an 8 year unlimited warranty to replace the battery, but under what conditions? If the battery totally stops working or if range degrades by more than XX%? Obviously, this is a big issue for all of us, and buying an 85KW and having it's battery range degrade to a 40KW's range without having the warranty protect against that degradation is an important question.

Ownership says they do not warrant a specific capacity %, just that there will be no manufacturing flaws. Note that service every year or 12,500 miles (whichever comes first) is also necessary throughout the period.

An unusual or excessive degradation would be covered, and there are approximate battery and EV industry LiIon standards, which TM believes it can better and exceed, but there is not enough experience for them to guarantee it yet. Roadster experience is that the batteries lose less than the usual 30% in 100,000 miles, and the MS system is supposedly a major improvement.

But they won't put numbers in writing yet, and probably won't for some time to come.
