Black Tesla Model S spottet in Munich Germany

I saw several post on facebook with Tesla Model S in front of Bayrischer Hof (a famous Hotel in Munich) here in Munich.

Sadly I havn't been there in person quick enough!

But I can confirm Tesla Model S has landed in Europa. Yeah!

Volker.Berlin | 25 octobre 2012

That's news I like. Thank you for sharing! :-)

Die Einschläge kommen näher...! :-)

vouteb | 25 octobre 2012

good news

Ohms.Law | 25 octobre 2012

@Osiris - I'm glad to see that the "Tesla grin" is an international phenomenon. The fellow with the big grin next to the black Model S sure looks like he is enjoying himself!

s_curve | 25 octobre 2012

Yes...all of you reservation holders can expect the masses to chase you down the street with their camera phones too. At least until the novelty wears off. Cool. ich bin ein Municher! :-)

DouglasR | 25 octobre 2012

Münchener?

ManuVince | 25 octobre 2012

Apparently (you get a lot of info from TMC forum) there a black Model S touring in Europe and shown to the press by Tesla in partnership Athlon (car leasing company). It will be in Belgium next week.

Carl Barlev | 25 octobre 2012

+1 Ohms.Law

Seeing it made me grin :)

Brian H | 25 octobre 2012

ManuVince;
That would make sense; I gather they've reserved 150 of them!

steven.maes | 26 octobre 2012

Any idea where and when in Belgium ?

Jackie425 | 26 octobre 2012

It seems a model S was reviewed by UK press in Germany yesterday:
http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-review/first-drives/first-drive-review-tesl...
This one was red and has German plates.

Volker.Berlin | 26 octobre 2012

Perhaps the most important line from that article (although, the picture showing German plates is at least as important IMO!): "It will go on sale in the UK next autumn."

Runar | 26 octobre 2012

http://www.tv2.no/underholdning/broom/tesla-s-denne-mannen-faar-ikke-for...

The review by this norwegian journalist will be published ater today. He has the right grin on his face at least;-) and i guess he might ve sjowing hands which shake slightly?

Runar | 26 octobre 2012

Ve sjowing, should be "be showing" and ater is later... Ipad :-\

Runar | 26 octobre 2012

In this article he says he aint allowed to say anything about the drive experience until friday... But he reminds the readers about a commercial from the electrincs shop chain, Expert i think it should be, their slogan is "løp og kjøp" which can be translated to "run and buy". ;-)

Xav1976 | 26 octobre 2012

Has one of the Belgian reservation holders already contacted Athlon Car Lease Belgium (http://www.athloncarlease.com/athlon-be) to get more info?

steven.maes | 26 octobre 2012

No, not yet. Do you think you can get the model s faster when going through Atlon? (if you are a reservation holder). Didn't think of it yet ...

Volker.Berlin | 26 octobre 2012

Tesla is officially greeting Munich on twitter...
https://twitter.com/TeslaMotors/status/261601846165131264/photo/1

I just wonder why the Model S in their image is red while the one spotted last night was black. Conclusion: There are already more than one! :-)

dcpalmer | 26 octobre 2012

Slightly worrying that the British journalists flagged the build quality as an issue for a car of this price: "not up to BMW levels".

- Not being that impressed by "BMW levels" of build quality personally (yes, I owned a 528i a few years ago), I think Tesla need to work on this...

Volker.Berlin | 26 octobre 2012

dcpalmer, where did you see that? I cannot find that quote in the AUTOCAR First drive review that is linked above.

dcpalmer | 26 octobre 2012

"The Model S is good to drive, comfortable and well specced. It represents the convergence of digital and automotive tech, with its brilliant infotainment screen, while staying practical. It’s pretty well built and offers super-saloon performance plus a range as good as any conventional rival. But entry-level models only have a 160-mile range and aren’t as quick."

[Annoying that they mention the entry-level range, whilst hinting at the high-end price!]

"Inside, wood grain, chrome and silver detailing surrounds clear instruments that display the car’s speed, remaining range and how much energy is being regenerated by the car’s brakes. Overall quality is good, but it’s not quite up to BMW standards."

Volker.Berlin | 26 octobre 2012

Thank you.

mik | 26 octobre 2012

Found a picture of a Sig red Model S with a Munich registration...

http://www.autoweek.nl/autonieuws/21053/gereden-tesla-model-s/nu

For the Belgians: Model S will be @ Athlon on Oct 30-31th... I won't :-(

Alastair.Nantes | 26 octobre 2012

And there is also a review (in French) from a Swiss online publication also! Seems Tesla is ramping up its European operations.

http://www.wheels-and-you.com/JA/index.php/wheels/essais/503-essai-tesla...

I reckon that Tesla should concentrate on Europe, no silly dealership rules and gas at $8-10 a gallon!
This would of course have nothing to do with my own reservation! ;-)

Alastair

mik | 26 octobre 2012

Already 3 in Europe (grey, black & red) ?

steven.maes | 26 octobre 2012

I guess these are the test drive models. The event can't be that far away ...

Whity Whiteman | 26 octobre 2012

the earliest delivery in Germany is via Athlon-Leasing. No matter, if reserved or not... if yu get in contract with them, You get the car nearly first in the row. I talked to them and sent them my number (which are okay for the last Year). They responded: Sorry, but that is to risky for us. Please lease Your car anywhere else...
so, I'm a little sad now and have to wait till P502

Volker.Berlin | 26 octobre 2012

Model S is now officially on display in the Tesla Store, Munich, Germany. I just received an invitation to see the Model S there from Oct 27 through Nov 2.

Captain_Zap | 26 octobre 2012

I wonder if these are production models.

If these are the former test drive cars that were in the US then you will them unrefined compared to production cars.

If someone has a chance, get the entire VIN!

Ohms.Law | 26 octobre 2012

@VB I am really thrilled for you. This means that a Model S is that much closer to coming to a driveway near you. You deserve it.

(And for the record, I think European license plates look better on the front than do our stubby things.)

Ohms.Law | 26 octobre 2012

Er, Brian H before you jump in, I'm talking about license plates. :-)

Osiris | 26 octobre 2012

Tomorrow and the whole next week reservation holders get the chance to see the Model S in the Tesla Store in Munich. Just got the email stating this.

I guess I'll hardly sleep tonight! :-)

Volker.Berlin | 26 octobre 2012

Ohms.Law, thank you! I'm in fact thrilled to see that Tesla, while focusing on ramping up in California and delivering to their US customers, has all but forgotten about the "old continent". It's very reassuring to see that obviously they launched a major publicity initiative over here, which in my opinion confirms their commitment to deliver cars to European customers in just a few months... almost weeks, now! ;-)

BTW, the email invitation to the Munich Store unmistakably clarifies that the Model S is on display and test drives or rides are *not* possible. That's understandable, and surely they soon will indeed offer test drives. In the mean time, I'll forgo the 6-hour travel (one way) from Berlin to Munich. I've seen the prototype in Geneva earlier this year, and I'm looking forward to test driving a production model soon! Merely seeing it again is not worth the trip IMO.

ThomasN | 26 octobre 2012

@volker Berlin , hope your wait to drive it isn't too long. I have to warn you though. You might think you know the meaning of epiphany...

Captain_Zap | 26 octobre 2012

I saw in the Careers section that Tesla is looking to hire a Communications Director in the Netherlands.

Brian H | 26 octobre 2012

VB;
"I'm in fact thrilled to see that Tesla, while focusing on ramping up in California and delivering to their US customers, has all but forgotten about the "old continent"." You mean "not"?

Being thrilled TM has forgotten you would be strange, almost bizarre!

Captain_Zap | 26 octobre 2012

Don't forget to report the VIN when you see it!

Jackie425 | 27 octobre 2012

I guess the invites are for Germany only as my e-mail box is empty :-( Can't wait for one to get to the store in Eindhoven (The Netherlands)...

Norbert.Vienna | 27 octobre 2012

seems to be only for Germany since also my e-mail box is empty
but as far as I have heard all TM Stores will be euipped with a demo modell to look at
but the more important fact is that TM has a EC type approval
and can go on with their schedule to market in Europe

jkirkebo | 27 octobre 2012

The VIN from one of the test drive cars seem to be:

5YJ5A1DP2CFP01227

I am not 100% sure as the picture in this review is not too clear:

http://www.tv2.no/underholdning/broom/tesla-model-s-dette-er-en-julegave...

jkirkebo | 27 octobre 2012

I guess that should be:

5YJSA1DP2CFP01227

Brian H | 27 octobre 2012

Don't take the 1227 as a consecutive count; the 1200s are marketing cars.

Volker.Berlin | 28 octobre 2012

Brian H, "Tesla has all but forgotten about Europe." Doesn't that mean, Tesla has done everything except forgetting about Europe? That would include not forgetting about Europe, which is in fact what I meant to say.

nickjhowe | 28 octobre 2012

@Volker - "all but forgotten about" means "to all intents and purposes has forgotten about" It is one of the many, many strange English constructions.

Brian H | 28 octobre 2012

Yes, or "has done everything up to but not quite including 'forgetting about'". A similar expression would be, "Has virtually forgotten about".

steven.maes | 28 octobre 2012

Thx for that info. I understood what Volker was trying to explain. And I thought it was obvious that he was correct. Must be a European way of thinking.
