I've always enjoyed XKCD comics. Be ware of raptors.
xkcd. Why those letters? Has it ever been explained?
"What does XKCD stand for? It's not actually an acronym. It's just a word with no phonetic pronunciation -- a treasured and carefully-guarded point in the space of four-character strings."http://xkcd.com/about/
Now, there's a challenge.

To be on topic. I feel that this type of connector is the right way to go. Because it is an all in One connector. Slow, medium and fast charge, all done with one charge port. And depending on the cable you get at the charge point, you get the different charge speed.
You can compare it with USB. A USB3.0 device can work with a USB1.0 Computer or visa versa. But you can only get the maximum speed if all components are USB3.0 (device, cable and computer)
