Sophistocated, understated, and upbeat..

The slacker radio introduced me to a recording that nails the spirit of Tesla for guessed it.. sophisticated, understated and upbeat. I play often with the volume at 11.

"Bright Mississippi" by Allen Toussaint. (the first recording on the list)

Does anyone else have any favorites on Slacker they'd like to share? | 12 luglio 2014

"Electric Boogie"

Let it go........

Sail - AWOLnation. It has absolutely nothing to do with Tesla its just a cool song especially with the sound studio package. :-)

Pachelbel's Canon in D. No tempo tantrums, no grabbing gears, just traversing tranquility.

GeekEV | 13 luglio 2014

There is considerable distortion at 11 (as there should be, considering the homage). Take it down just one notch to the 3rd 10 and it will sound much better.

Interesting choices

@bobrobert ... beautiful

bobrobert | 13 luglio 2014

Thanx, hcwhy. It has great associations. I lived in Nuremberg a few years after retiring (Pachelbel's entry & exit point in life) but before that my studio director used it to start every ballet class for his performing company, & for the same effect as the doxology in church - no more twittering teens, no more blustering Bob, time to seek the spirit within.

@bobrobert: Yes! I find I listen to more slow jazz now (but not always).

It turns out that Allen Toussaint also has an album 'THE bright Mississippi"...the song "Bright Mississippi is what comes up on slackers list in the car, but if you google it you get the album. It's the song I'm referring to....on the link below for anyone who wants to hear it on line. Either way it's worth it, IMHO

@ bobrobert

It sounds like you might enjoy this...Waltraud Meier's Liebestod from Tristan und Isolde. BTW are you a professional dancer or musician?

The Blink 182 station is great! Introduced me to Bowling for Soup's song 1985.

I'm stuck on the explicit comedy channels, except when my 11 yr old son is with me, in which case he chooses film soundtracks. But the comedy stuff, particularly Anthony Jeselnek, Hannabal Buress, Josh Blue and a couple others often have me doubling over whilst driving. Must look weird to passers by

Queens Bohemian Rhapsody ....

Electronic Meditation by Tangerine Dream. Well no, I don't play that, but the title fits :0)

But I am playing a lot of more delicate music now I don't have a engine to drown everything out: Vaughan William's Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis springs to mind as does Valentinsong by Landberk.

@hcwhy, I was quite amateur at dancing – not so good but real sincere. But when it came to ballerina toting I could carry my own (tough, nasty job but somebody's gotta do it.) I earned my pension as a firehouse paramedic – if the girl wouldn't pas de deux she got the fireman's carry. The truth be told, the tiny dancers were actually rescuing this hopeless idealist from the lost girls & women I hauled out of the back alleys of urbania. Sorry, there are no photos of me in white tights & turnout boots, but I posted one with my favorite partner on my neglected blog: This blatant self-promotion (to quote Brian) was snapped long ago, back in the days of magnificence.

bobrobert...I'm glad you never got confused and wore the wrong uniform to the job...wouldn't have worked out too well. Good picture... it looks like you two were having a great paramedics sure have an unusual uniform there. Seriously, though firefighters and paramedics are at the top of my list of professionals I respect the most. Thanks for your service.
