I was finally able to test drive Model S last night at the Denver store. The first thing I noticed was the car had "creep." I know that has been an issue in some of the posts, but I have never seen a post addressing a resolution. According to the rep, creep was added via a software update and is now a user selectable mode. With creep selected it drove just like an automatic transmission car.
Prior to my drive one of the things I was most concerned about was whether I would find regen annoying. Quite to the contrary. I had the regen on high and found I adapted to it very quickly. The rep turned it off for a bit and I actually asked him to turn it back on. Back in my ICE car (Infiniti M) all that back and forth between the throttle and the brake pedal seems inefficient and antiquated by comparison.
The performance and handling of Model S have been discussed at length on this forum. I don't have anything to add. I was certainly impressed, and I've driven almost every luxury performance brand out there.
I'll be finalizing my configuration this weekend.
