Tesla Product Specialist Team

Now off to make some choices... P779

nickjhowe | 25 augustus 2012

I spoke to the head of the customer experience team at the Palo Alto event. If my memory serves he said they have 20 delivery specialists already and are recruiting 30 more. If they have 50, I'd guess they will struggle to deliver more than 100 cars per day, but that would still be 2000+ cars in a single month.

So - with 20 in Sept ramping to 50 in Nov/Dec they should have the hand-over capacity to meet the 5k target. If production can keep up, we are good to go.

Teoatawki | 25 augustus 2012

We've been left with the impression that production capacity (1 shift) is about 85 cars per day. So no worries about trying to deliver > 100 per day. Also I'm guessing they expect to be running flat out for most of the last 10 weeks to make their 5000 quota. | 25 augustus 2012

The paperwork I got this week siad I would be contacted 1 month prior to delivery. Is there a list tracking this?

Brian H | 25 augustus 2012

All the S & SSL & F & R will already be gone.

Capt601 | 26 augustus 2012

Just curious how the higher P #'s ,3400+, are getting dates in nov/dec. when those of us with slightly earlier #'s ( me at 2982) have received paperwork with dates of dec/ jan.

DavidWSmith | 26 augustus 2012

@Capt601 - could it be that you have a 60KWH and they are shipping 85KWH sooner? I'm 2984, and also a 60KWH with Dec-Jan commit.

jackhub | 26 augustus 2012

P2884 with 85KWh and air suspension, Dec/Jan.

Jgdixon | 26 augustus 2012

I saw a listing under the employment section for night shift production.
So maybe that's how they plan to increase capacity!

Capt601 | 26 augustus 2012

Not for mine. We have performance 85kwh on order.

NorCal Tesla Driver | 26 augustus 2012

@Capt: I believe it depends on the specific equipment configuration and that impacts the date.

Sudre_ | 26 augustus 2012

I wish people would stop spreading rumors. 60kw leather, blue paint has posted a date of Nov/Dec. The dates change based on how the line moving. Why not call or email and just get your update expect date. | 26 augustus 2012

I agree-- I think it is likely that everyone is looking at "about December" regardless of what the paperwork says(& some of the lower reservation numbers will see November). I plan to continue enjoying my anticipation.

Capt601 | 26 augustus 2012

@sudre. Easy now. No rumors spread here. Just asking based on what people have posted and what my delivery date was quoted for P2982. Trying to understand how later #'s have received earlier dates. Doesn't make sense to me, so I was just posing the question.

CPM | 26 augustus 2012

I think your location also has an impact of dates and how many cars are ordered in your area. They are shipping cars not FedEx packages so they are going to group cars. That is my 2 cents.

Tomas | 26 augustus 2012

These dates seems crazy. I am signature series, performance 148. Did my "time to build" months ago and haven't heard a thing since. Sorry to burst anyone's bubble, but it looks like it may be a long wait.

DouglasR | 26 augustus 2012

I have P983, but I took a while to decide and configure. I should receive the paperwork tomorrow, and I expect to turn it around the same day. I thought I remember being told that, so long as I submit the signed contract by the end of the month, my delivery date won't be delayed. Does that sound right? When am I likely to see my S (performance, pearl white, tan leather)?

cerjor | 26 augustus 2012

CPM-P3594: I live in Washington state but will be taking delivery in Arizona. Nowhere in my paperwork does Tesla ask about delivery location. So I don't think delivery location has anything to do with it.

David70 | 26 augustus 2012

How are they arranging the Washington licensing while delivering in Arizona. Depending on when I finally complete my order, I could want delivery in California, but don't want to pay the California sales tax.

Michael23 | 26 augustus 2012

Douglas, I'm p427 performance and was told December most likely so I'm hoping before 2013. Please do share the date on your contract when you get your paperwork since you will be getting the latest date and it would probably be the same for me too.

I'm white/tan as well, but no pearl.

Teoatawki | 27 augustus 2012

Very little hope has been offered on taking delivery in California and also avoiding paying taxes there.

DouglasR | 27 augustus 2012

FWIW, when I was configuring the vehicle and looked at gray leather, a little window popped up and warned that gray leather would delay delivery.

easydjr | 27 augustus 2012

P4051 received my Time to Build email on 8/23. Ordered a blue performance model. Was told late Nov / early December. I'm in the Bay Area in California near the factory.

I'm sure your delivery is based on your configuration. Some battery sizes, colors and features haven't been released yet.

pilotSteve | 27 augustus 2012

@CPM-P3594 - re delivery in WA state and taxes: I found Tesla to be very accommodating while remaining within the state tax limits for me.

I'm taking delivery at my home in WA, the MVPA paperwork lists the dealer location as "Tesla Bellevue", and I have a shipping address (for stuff other than the actual car) as my office in Oregon. Thats flexible in my book.

Since WA has no sales tax for EVs, and OR has no sales tax what so ever, I would obviously not take delivery in CA.

They make the rules, we play the game as best we can....

Liz G | 27 augustus 2012

The dates on the MVPA's are estimates that's it. So more conservative than others. But basically, you can't be sure of your delivery data until you get your 30 day call.

Anything else is just fairy dust. So I've just decided to put it out of my mind. There's nothing I can do to change the delivery date. So I will get it when I get it.

John56 | 27 augustus 2012

I just got off the phone with my customer experience rep. I explained that I'm P#1117 and completed my MVPA early August. I said that my MVPA said to expect delivery in November, but based upon current MVPA dates being posted in the forums I was curious if the November date is still valid. He looked up my records and said that all he can tell me right now is that the EARLIEST I might see my car would be sometime in November, but it could be also be the end of December. It all depends upon how ramp up goes. I definitely got the impression (lots of umming and ahhing) that I'd be better served to reset my expectation to sometime in December. My reservation is for a P85 with no options that should cause any delay. He also emphasized that no one with a later P# would get theirs ahead of me. Bottom line, I'm going to pretty much forget about any delivery date at this point until I get my 30 day call or a lot more firm delivery pronouncements from Tesla are forthcoming.
I do have complete confidence that they are doing everything they can to balance speed of production with delivery of a first class car. That's all I can ask for at this time.

phc0059 | 27 augustus 2012

I received my "It's Time to Build your Model S" email today at 12:31pm CDT. I am P4724. Planning on 85KW Standard.

Ohms.Law | 27 augustus 2012

+1 John56: Thanks for that information. We may all need to recalibrate our expectations somewhat but, never be in doubt, our cars are coming.

Straight Shooter | 27 augustus 2012

I got my E-Mail notification on Friday August 24th.

I'm C-49 on the Canadian list.

DouglasR | 27 augustus 2012

So, as mentioned above, I got my "Time to Build" email on August 1, but only confirmed my configuration yesterday (August 26). Today I received and signed my MVPA, which had an estimated delivery date of Nov - Dec 2012. My number is P983, ordering a Performance S, pearl white, tan leather, sound, tech package, and 19" wheels. Delivery is Seattle.

Looks like they don't plan to delay delivery on account of my waiting to sign, albeit I was within the 30 days.

demetri | 27 augustus 2012

#P4432 and I just received my e-mail Monday August 27th

bbmertz | 28 augustus 2012

The "finalize" button just appeared at 8am PT this morning on my account for P4909, but no email yet. Looks like it's decision time...

Schlermie | 28 augustus 2012

P4932 - I got my Finalize button this morning too.

Brian H | 28 augustus 2012

Troo. After 30 days, delivery starts to "walk", till you confirm, defer, or cancel. AFAIK

gjunky | 29 augustus 2012

I made it official today and cancelled my reservation. P3872. I just can't justify the expense. I'll be waiting for the GENIII

dondennis | 29 augustus 2012

P5250 - I just received my "Time To Build" email and "FINALIZE" button ... YEAH!!

alfafoxtrot1 | 29 augustus 2012

P5339. Delivery merely says early 2013. I note the design site shows a production start for 60kw of November, 2012.

Ohms.Law | 29 augustus 2012

@gjunky - sorry you had to make that decision but I'm sure everyone here respects it. On the positive side I'm glad you're staying with TMC and looking forward to Gen III.

adstein | 29 augustus 2012

5,158 - got the email and finalized tonight! 85kwh performance, says nov/dec delivery

gjunky | 29 augustus 2012

@Ohms.Law - I am very much looking forward to the success of TM and the GEN III (Model M?). I am a TSLA investor and hope to pay for that GEN III with my stock :) when the time comes.

mikeadams | 29 augustus 2012

P5323 - Received the time to build email today.
I am still agonizing a bit between green and dolphin grey as well as obeche matte vs. lacewood but will most likely finalize the following choices soon:
60kwh dolphin grey with tan leather and obeche matte trim
air suspension
tech package
panoramic roof
no other options
I am planning on having an electrician install a NEMA 14-50 circuit in my garage.

SD in the OC | 30 augustus 2012

5523 just notified

harryjsommer | 30 augustus 2012

5687... Contacted today. Nice.

GoTeslaChicago | 30 augustus 2012

#5520... no email, but web page says finalize!

mitrabbit | 30 augustus 2012

OK- it looks like it's time to get serious in configuring my S! I am 7214 and I see folks up to 5687 finalizing! Soooo.... I am guessing about 2 weeks before I must take the plunge! And a happy one it is. So far it is Performance, pearl white with black interior, tech option, pano roof, and probably the paint protection, though I am a bit concerned about the edging on white... it is visible.

Anything I forgot?? Wow... I may actually see the car in February as suggested by various product specialists.

Everyone insists they get a ride as soon as I get it! I never had that response to a car before! | 30 augustus 2012

Did you try clicking the finalize button?

harryjsommer | 30 augustus 2012

for 5687, finalized order. Got the 60 battery. Without active air suspension, delivery was specified as jan/feb. When I added it, delivery changed to nov/dec.

Hope that provides some insight.

dondennis | 30 augustus 2012

P5250 - just received my countersigned MVPA; 60kWh, Active Air, standard black interior & exterior. Agreement lists November/Decemver 2012 delivery!

ModelS3P | 30 augustus 2012

GoTeslaChicago: same for me (#5539)... finalize button but no e-mail. Must be a Chicago area glitch. I don't have a junk folder (my own URL), so odd not to see it when others have the e-mail. The finalize button does work, however, so we are free to submit.

harryjsommer | 31 augustus 2012

Same delivery date, same color, same accessories... All cars will be twins!

. Make sure not to park next to me :-)

Sudre_ | 31 augustus 2012

I think Tesla should play a joke and make the access for the identical cars the same to really mess with owners :-)
