What is the yellowish dashed line on the energy side of the speedometer?

Newer owner here - searched and couldn't find so sorry if simple answer.

Sometimes when driving, I see a yellowish dashed line up around the higher end of the usually orange spectrum on the speedometer.

Anyone know what I am talking about?

I believe you're referring to a cold battery limit on battery discharge. It goes away as you drive and the battery warms, so I hear. I live in California so...

If you are getting a line on the upper part of the energy scale, that means your battery is extremely cold or your battery is really low and the car is going to limit you on how hard you can accelerate.

since you indicated it was only on the high end, that tells me that your battery is low on charge.

All of this is in your owner's manual.

The manual has details. It indicates that energy / regen is limited. Usually due to temperature or just running low on energy.

OK - thanks all.

Will go read more in manual.

Also I believe if you charge to 100%, regen will be limited to the yellow dash line

@JVL There's also a lot of info in the WELCOME thread.

@LimawanS85

You are correct if you charge to 100%, that is on the bottom regen line. You will notice that when you let off the go pedal, the regen is not as strong until you drive some miles and that dashed line goes away so be careful on that. The top line will be low battery and it will limit performance.

If you charge to 100% you will notice that there is virtually NO regen for about 5 miles. When battery range drops to about 30 miles you'll notice that max discharge from the battery is limited by the yellow line.

Yesterday, I was surprised by this line when I took my car out for an errand. The temperature was 50 degrees (F); I had a about 65% battert charge. It took over 5 minutes for the battery to warm up. Until then, regen braking was rather anemic.

All of this is in your owner's manual.

There is a lot of info in the manual. Sometimes it isn't easy finding what you're looking for. Particularly for some of us older drivers who find the font on the 17-in screen a bit smaller than we'd like it to be.
