Window Cleaning

Window Cleaning

I cannot get the windows on the car to come clean. I use proper glass cleaning cloths and cleaners but they won't come streak free. It's as though there is some kind of coating on the windows? Any suggestions?

NAPA auto glass. sold at any NAPA auto parts store. my wife uses it throughout the whole house.

I use a non-amonia glass cleaner I bought at the auto store. Works just great.

As nutty as this sounds, I buy Griot's Glass Cleaner and have it shipped in here. It's the only thing I've ever used on a car which doesn't end up producing some sort of film after a few days. I can't find anything locally that will do a good job in the inside glass of a car.

I've had great success with warm water with dish washing soap. Just a few drops and it will cut through the grease on your window.

Vinegar and newspaper. Acid in the vinegar will eat those greasy cooties.

Using a squeegee also helps.

GEL-GLOSS NoStreek glass wax cleaner --"Cream Wax Polish with Carnauba."

Highly recommended, can be hard to find locally. I think I also sent off for it, from Amazon. Very happy with results.

"Invisible Glass "cleaner works too.
But if it is really dirty with lots of splattered bugs I use Windex Original first.

Sprayway glass cleaner is great stuff. Also, just for fun, i spent a few minutes claybarring my windows when I got my new car several weeks ago. Made an amazing difference. Very clean, and in any kind of sun the reflection off of them hurts my eyes.

Claybarred windows for supershine! Serendipity strikes. Nice find.

Thanks for all the suggestions. It wasn't a normal streak issue. I use Griots Window Cleaning and window cleaning cloths [the cloths are awesome!]. It was something more. Like a weird film. I think I figured it out. I think it was like a glue residual from when the car was shipped with all it's protection wrap on it and the residue from the wrap did not get cleaned off properly. The more I cleaned it the less it was doing it now. Used Griots glass polish which helped alot too I think.

Stay away from Windex! It contains ammonia, which will strip the wax right off your paint.

Ammonia is bad for tint as well.

Wow. If you can't figure out how to clean a window, I wouldn't bother to get out of bed in the morning.

Gadfly. You must sleep-in a lot.
