Corded mobile connector question

Corded mobile connector question

Does anyone know if the "Corded Mobile Connector" in the Tesla Shop (currently only visible under Model S / Charging) will do a sustained 40 volts on a NEMA 14-50 with a LR Model 3? I'm assuming this is basically a repackaged Gen 1 mobile connector, but there is not a lot of information when you click on the item or even in the linked manual.

That should read 40 Amps not 40 Volts.

Agree, they could have done a better job listing the specs. According to this TMC post, it does charge at 40A continuous: https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/corded-mobile-connector.124446/

The mobile connector is limited to 32A

Yes. I've looked into this and it does charge at 40A continuous. It's a good solution for home charging, but not so great a solution on road trips as it does not allow multiple adapters like the GEN 2 cord. You should also compare the price of a corded connector to a Tesla Wall Connector, which does the same and more.

...The Gen 1 connector could do 40A.

It maxes out at 32 amps on a model 3 LR using a 14-50 receptacle. https://www.tesla.com/support/home-charging-installation/mobile-connector

Ignore Derotam's comment (no disrespect intended). Relatively few people know of the Corded Connector so it is easy to assume the OP is referring to the Mobile Connector, which they are not.

@ Coastal Cruiser. You are correct. I had never seen the "corded mobile connector". Here is link to an image of the specs.

Sorry, my mistake.easy to get mixed up!

Thanks, everyone. I'm considering this as a hassle-free (= no electrical work) upgrade to the Gen 2 UMC I normally use. I realize it won't be as fast as the wall connector. It also looks like the permanently attached 14-50 plug might solve some issues I've read about with overheating of the adapter on the Gen 1 UMC's.

When will the Corded Mobile Connector be available?

I found a link to the CMC manual, which is surprisingly difficult to find a link to, but since I actually received my CMC in the mail today I can confirm this manual's imagery/descriptions match the device itself, so figured I'd link it here:
