What is that MOLLOM thing?

What is that MOLLOM thing?

I keep getting blocked from posting even to a thread I created... What's going on? Anyone has the same problem? and how do you bypass it? Freaking annoying!!!

It's an AI algorithm to block content it deems inappropriate, try using synonyms instead to get the message across, unless of course your content is truly inappropriate this comment won't help.

DTsea | 20 april 2015

Mollom! My precious....

Boukman | 20 april 2015

Guess the AI stands for Artificial Idiot!

JeffreyR | 20 april 2015

I have not been able to update the Tips & Tricks because of that cr@p! NOTE: it has a profanity blocker too.

Homebrook | 20 april 2015

Mollom is a Drupal package providing comment filtering. You can read about how it works at the Drupal Mollom project web page.

Timo | 21 april 2015

Every AI this far has been Artificial Idiot. I don't expect that to change very soon.

Boukman | 21 april 2015

More like AII...Artificial Idiot Imbecile! Annoys the heck out of me! Hits when you least expect it, keeps asking for confirmation and causes multiple postings...TSLA should definitely review this...

"The trouble with computers, of course, is that they're very sophisticated idiots. They do exactly what you tell them at amazing speed. Even if you order them to kill you. So if you do happen to change your mind, it's very difficult to stop them from obeying the original order. [stops computer from destroying Earth] But not impossible." -- THE Doctor Who, Tom Baker

DTsea | 21 april 2015

Tom Baker red sage? Really?

Prefer David Tennant myself.

Timo | 21 april 2015

Matt Smith. Funny and young, yet somehow old and serious. Didn't sense that with David Tennant.

Brian H | 22 april 2015

Who's Who? Whose Who is who?

Red Sage ca us | 26 april 2015

I love all The DOCTORS, but Tom was my first. I think he could still do it. Well. But I'd love to see others try too... Idris Elba, Hugh Laurie, Delroy Lindo, Benedict Cumberbatch, Charlize Theron...

Timo | 27 april 2015

Charlize Theron as The Doctor? Maybe not...

I wish we could see more Tardis interaction. One of my favorite episodes is Doctor's Wife, where Tardis got a human shell (with Suranne Jones as Tardis). It is clear that this thing is not just a machine, but with the latest Doctor it has not got any part in the stories. It's just a cold machine in this last badly written season.

Helen Mirren

Red Sage ca us | 27 april 2015

Ooh! Helen Mirren! YES!

Also, Judi Dench!

holidayday | 27 april 2015

Oops, I just got caught trying to post something the algorithm thought was spam.

Not sure what I could have posted that would catch the computer's attention.

From an email sent to Mollom Support and Tesla Webmaster email aliases (which was blocked the first time I tried to post it):

If you use the "site" search function of Google, and search for Mollom in the forums, you will find a long list of unhappy regulars and newbies alike that think of Mollom w/ varying degrees of dislike and hatred.

"site:forums.teslamotors.com Mollom"

One example of restrictions that bothers so many of us is the random ability to post links and images w/ our posts. Sometimes it works other times it doesn't. Regardless of how "senior" the poster is. You can see many recent posts about not being able to post or strange work-arounds like "remove the space to go to the page" hints. Another feature that causes the IRE that Mollom inspires is the addition of the keyword "t_sting" (that's an 'e') to the pantheon of strange phrases that are blocked. See my Tips & Tricks for other examples:

tips-tricks-using-and-searching-forum#KEYWORD

Worst of all there are many cases (use same Google site search) where Spam postings have been so overwhelming as to make the forum unusable. We realize that Tesla is not committed to hosting real forum software like Disquis or Slash-Dot or TMC uses, but it would be nice if the software you have chosen to use actually worked.

MOLLOM: The negative perception of your product is so pervasive on Tesla's forum that the word "Mollom" is almost profane. There are a lot of highly technical, engaged people that at best tolerate your software and at worst despise it.

Actually, after recent changes that removed the 'NEW' posts link to recently added posts on an existing thread, I thought Mollom was gone... I hadn't been blocked for a while. But then that column in the thread listing turned RED, and now I get blocked all the time -- again.

I toned the final email down a bit, but they do not want emails for contact. So, I'm not sure I'll receive anything useful. Here is the latest if you would like to copy-paste into their contact form:

FYI I tried posting the above (after pulling the 'e' out of "t_sting" of course) and was blocked as spam until I changed the URLs:

Your attention to this matter is much appreciated.

I got Mollomed just the other day at the used car lot.
