Model S Car Covers & Floor Mats?

Model S Car Covers & Floor Mats?

Has anyone located a custom fit car cover and/or rubber floor matts? We received a pair of carpet floor mats for the front but not for the rear. Did anyone receive rear mats?

Cindy.holland | 10. oktober 2012

There is a Tesla S car cover in the shop section of their website

sagebrushnw | 10. oktober 2012

Not currently available from WeatherTech but they make great products. Fill out a request form at:

Michael S | 10. oktober 2012

No, and the front mats really suck. I've only had my car three weeks and the driver's side is already getting thrashed.

olanmills | 10. oktober 2012

Are the included mats carpet or rubber? I know some people want rubber, but I want carpet. Do they have an embroidered logo or anything like that?

jerry3 | 13. oktober 2012

Try Lloyd mats.

Michael23 | 13. oktober 2012

It doesn't list tesla on any of the distribution sites.

Kevin Glassman | 19. oktober 2012

I've just received a set of Lloyd Mats for the Model S, front, rear and reasr cargo space. You can check out the Lloyd Mats on site. Odd that some distributors of Lloyd products don't list the Model S, but this site does.
They're certainly not WeatherTech, but better than nothing in the back at the moment.

TikiMan | 27. oktober 2012

I wonder where Tesla or Motor Trend got the rear floor-mat, if in fact they don't plan on adding them as an option or standard equipment?....

stoph | 03. desember 2012

I just called WeatherTech and they said DigitalFit floor mats for the Model S should ready within 6 weeks or so.

Michael Emrich | 03. desember 2012

Meanwhile I purchased a full set of Lloyd Luxe floor mats from You should get 15% discount on their list prices. See here:

I'm very happy with my choice.

Amos' Tesla | 03. desember 2012

I'm considering asking Santa to replace my factory floor mats. I'd be interested in feedback from anyone that has already purchased after market floor mats. I've had WeatherTech before so I am familiar with those. Not as much with others. Michael how do the Lloyd mats hold in place? I am mostly concerned about the driver mat. Thanks for any and all feedback.

ViewAskew | 04. desember 2012

Does the Model S come with floor mats at all? I was under the impression that cars were being delivered without them.

mkh1437 | 04. desember 2012

They do come with front floor mats only.

3Dautofloormats | 05. desember 2012

Try 3D mat: 3D flooring mats

Brian H | 05. desember 2012

?? That's a non-existent page on this site.

JimmyN | 05. desember 2012

Ordered my Lloyd mats from with the 15% discount on Friday (thanks Michael E and TMC) - UPS says it's on its way for delivery today!

Good Customer Service too - I forgot to buy the frunk mat and added that on Monday (not likely to be in today's shipment) and they let me take advantage of discount and free shipping.

ReeceWeb | 28. desember 2012

Hey, it looks like Tesla now offers official floor mats!
Check it out in the on-line store.

Cindy.holland | 28. desember 2012

I did check it out and they have to be joking! I would never pay that much for floor mats.

MB3 | 28. desember 2012

I'm undecided, but mfrs always seem to charge a bunch for floor mats.

ReeceWeb | 28. desember 2012

I paid $200 for an interior set of Lloyd Luxe Floor mats, so $250 for official Tesla set doesn't seem totally out of line.

JoeFee | 28. desember 2012

108k and we have to buy mats!!!!!!!

TheAustin | 28. desember 2012

A full set of Lloyd Luxe mats is $719...A full set of Tesla mats is $650. Umm...I'm gonna go with the official Tesla mats, with the Tesla logo, matched exactly to my car's interior, for $69 less.

Crow | 28. desember 2012

It's not apples and apples. The weight of the Tesla mats is 30 oz. while Lloyd's Ultimats are 32 oz. Those are substantially cheaper than Tesla mats. Around $275 cheaper if you get the best deal. You are comparing them to the Luxe mats, which are significantly more dense. I think they are 48 oz. There's a quality difference.

rbgil770 | 28. desember 2012

Wait a minute. Do you mean to tell me that my S will not come with ANY floor mats unless I option these??? WTF!?? I'm already paying $250 for the shelf (which frankly SHOULD be included). I can understand having to buy all-weather, or upgraded 'premium' mats, but PLEASE don't tell me this premium sedan comes with NO floor mats. This is a matter of principle and really seems like unnecessary nickel and dime'ing! Anyone buying this car can afford a couple hundred dollars for floor mats, but COME ON! This is BS! TMC you're [supposed to be] better than this. MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT!

TMC need to hear us push back on this...

DAZ | 28. desember 2012

I'll add my voice among those that want to hear some hard facts about what is and what is not included floor mat wise with a Model S. While we're at it, let's also get confirmation of the frunk cargo net. I posted the same request in the Questions? Topic.

Premium sedans come with a full set of basic floor mats. Especially those cars Tesla aspires to compare to: A6, A7, 5 series, E class etc.

Lou in SoCal | 28. desember 2012

The nickel and dimeing customers is starting to leave a bad taste. Would've been much less of a headache for TM and customers if they just increased the price of the car and included these things. Some things are simply basic for any car much less a luxury car (e.g. floor mats, center console, etc.).

At this point, it's insulting how they're treating their customers. Not too happy with how they're skipping people in line to get only 85 kWh cars out. They simply could've just communicated better or even given reservation numbers based on if you're getting an 85, 60, or 40.

mkh1437 | 28. desember 2012

I received front floor mats with my Model S Sig, as well as the Frunk cargo net. No rear mats, however, and no mats for the frunk or trunk. I assume these mats are different, as the front mats I received do not have Tesla logo on them.

BYT | 28. desember 2012

I placed an order online just this morning for custom rear mats for my Model S, if I can cancel that order, I will place one for these but wish Tesla would have e-mailed me that this option was available, I did in fact sign up for e-mail notifications! >:[

Robert22 | 28. desember 2012

More games.....the all-weather Tesla mats don't arrive until the 1st quarter 2013. These will probably be more desirable if there is any weather in your locale. I think I'll resist the urge to buy the plain jane mats and wait to see the all-weathers but have a funny feeling we won't see them until March.

Brian H | 29. desember 2012

As a general comment, note that Tesla is being as conservative as possible about what is "included". Many express that as reducing what's "free" with the car, but forget that for those who don't want that option/default, that means paying (embedded in base price) for something unwanted. With consequent griping or howling of "ripoff!"

Attributing this policy to greed and nickel-and-diming is questionable; every option increases admin and production complexity, and results in scheduling conflicts as people waffle. "Included" would be much easier, as evidenced by the '85 kWh+air' early priority.

kent | 29. desember 2012

Normal floor covering mats are included with a new cars. I only received front floor cover mats and very cheap ones at that.

All weather mats should be an additional charge.

Tesla should provide the front, rear and cargo area mats with the purchase of the car.

jkirkebo | 29. desember 2012

I am happy these mats are not standard as I have absolutely no use for them (or the parcel shelf). I do not need more stuff to store indefinately :(

If they were to include good mats as standard then we should get to choose between cloth and rubber mats. Too much hassle for them I think, better make both optional.

Now, when are the rubber mats coming ? ;)

DC@Tesla | 29. desember 2012

Luxury cars should come standard with good quality floor mats, front and back. There is no excuse for not including them, other than the nickel and dime scheme.

R3dStang66 | 29. desember 2012

When i picked up my S, it didnt come with my front mats, rear trunk well cover(jumper seat for option kids), or parcel shelf. These will come in the due bill later.
The frunk had a carpet mat but it was really thin and no logo. If this was any indication of what the front mats were going to look like, i'll pass on those. Rather then waiting for my front mats only, I ordered the loyd mats lux carpet. They looked and fit great. Very heavy duty, but the only things i dont like about them is no Tesla logo and dont want to screw any plastic holder into the existing carpet. I'll velcro that just wished it had tesla logo.

rwang | 29. desember 2012

I heard from someone at the Menlo Park store, they went to Oreilly's auto parts got a truck bed liner mat for their rear floor mats and it fit pretty nicely.

DTsea | 30. desember 2012

Lou in SoCal, when you place the order you don't specify battery, so how would the reservation sequence number be assigned by pack size at that time?

I agree the lack of communication is hard.... I would bet though that it relates to Sarbanes Oxley- since production and revenue targets are material information, and TMC is publicly traded, the lawyers have probably told them they can't be very specific. Plus I would bet they are firing cars to the line as they have parts for the various options- they have been increasing rate very rapidly- so they probably wouldnt have any idea of when your car will be produced until after you finalize. Clearly the custom build model is not really 100% what is happening- rather building what they can and then looking down the list for 'who has ordered that?'

Personally this doesnt bother me. They are a startup, I want them to succeed (and stay in business to support my car long term), and whatever production sequence helps them get profitable is the best for all owners in the long term, in my opinion.

R3dStang66 | 30. desember 2012

ok, just saw in the store they had premium floor mats available with logo. Has anyone ordered these?

Chris DC | 30. desember 2012

strange... the mats just disappeared from the model s 'functional' store. Guess they are already sold out.. Oh well

rd2 | 30. desember 2012

FYI- we took delivery of our beautiful Pearl white model S yesterday at the factory. There were NO floor mats in the car. Our delivery specialist (Shawn) was awesome and immediately told us about it. The floor mats are out of stock right now and we are getting front and rear floor mats delivered to us as soon as they are available. We also are awaiting the parcel shelf, rear seats, and the new vanity mirror lights whenever those are released.

I have a feeling these might be the same Tesla-badged mats that were for sale online. I'm guessing they may be giving them free of charge to everyone now, particularly if they were pulled from the store.

Btw- I cannot believe we finally have the car. It is the most incredible feeling. We are truly driving the future!

rbgil770 | 30. desember 2012

rd2 thanks for the feedback and Congrats on receiving your Pearl white beauty!

Please keep us posted. I'm afraid your DS may have mis-communicated...

It is highly unlikely that TM is providing those mats from the on-line store (though they should be) to MS customers. As you may have seen from earlier posts, everyone else who has received their car has either gotten just front mats w/o TM logo or no mats.

Thanks again and please keep us posted.

stevenmaifert | 30. desember 2012

My S was delivered last Sunday without the front floor mats. They are a Due Bill item. At this point I could care less as I ordered the front and rear mats from the Tesla store Friday evening before they sold out.

MandL | 31. desember 2012

The front mats that came with my Model S are OK. I don't have strong feelings about mats one way or the other, but am definitely not spending hundreds for a "premium" set. My big problem with the standard mats is they have no mechanism to keep them in place besides velcro, and it is definitely not sufficient. They don't stay put for a day.

Brian H | 31. desember 2012

>:( So, you're one of the culprits who cleaned them out!! >;P

Dave-LasVegas | 31. desember 2012

Don't forget a dash cover! The UV is brutal where I live.

I've already picked up the one-piece rear mat from -- they're pretty good.

sandman | 31. desember 2012

I do not have my car yet but asked my delivery specialist who is at the Florida store about mats and car covers. He said that the rear mats will be delivered at no charge when they are ready. Front mats have been included in most deliveries already. He didn't know why they weren't included originally.

Also, he made the comment that a sun screen for pano-glass is also being worked on and will be installed at no charge for those pano-glass owners who think they need it.

He also said that they are working on a car cover fit for outdoor use. The cover listed on the webstore is currently indoor only.

Take those comments for what they are worth. Would be really nice to see an official communication on these types of things as they tend to generate a ton of forum traffic.

DouglasR | 31. desember 2012

@sandman, I think your delivery specialist's comment is another one for the "Don't believe anything you are told by a Tesla Rep" thread. Not saying he's wrong, just that he has been contradicted by other reps.

rwang | 31. desember 2012

@sandman talked to head of Tesla Service today in Fremont. There are no free front and rear mats with the Tesla logo that they know of. Get your delivery specialist to put that in writing!

What i've heard is the weather tech mats are coming and the thick Tesla Front and Back mats have sold out.

In other news...The iPhone app for Tesla is almost out the door.

Isn't that what the overenthusiastic windshield coating is supposed to be blocking?
