Car for delivery on Saturday. WHAT TO DO ? HOW TO AVOID paying 5k$ more for the same configuration ?

Hi,

My model 3 is delivery is scheduled on Saturday. I haven't paid for the car and I am still awaiting the Tesla financing application. I have seen the site to my amusement that the price has dropped but it has not reflected in my account. Is there any way that I don't end up paying 5k$ more for the car day after tmrw when people are buying it for 5k$ less today. I know that this happens with the new technology but it would be highly demoralizing to take the delivery after few days after the price has dropped. Please Suggest .Thank you for your suggestions.

ask for the current pricing and get it in writing. If they refuse, which they probably will because they won't have any proper guidance from above. In that case, return the car immediately for a full refund, and then place another order.

"in writing"- meaning as in a simple email?

saikumar.gadde | 28. februar 2019

Is there any way if we want to upgrade the model like to lose 500 or 1000 $ (fraction of 2500 $) ? and move the deposit to another model ?

Dude.

Be willing to reject delivery unless the new order price is given. Worst case you cancel and reorder.

I any case don’t be pissed at Tesla. They are giving you options. With other manufacturers you would be shit out of luck . You would be fighting a dealer for returning profit to you..

I think Tesla is hurting themselves in trying to do the right thing and drive prices down... no other manufacturer is making this kind of drive to low cost. Every other manufacturerand dealer is focused on capturing every dollar possible of “consumer surplus”. Every other dealer EVER says If your willling to pay more right now we will take as much as you will pay and don’t think we will Give any back.

I think Tesla is hurting themselves in their goal of getting to the $35k price point. If I was a shareholder I would be pissed.. as a mode 3 owner I am happy as hell because I want this radically different, consumer focused company to win.

no way this is a real post.

openwheelracing88 | 28. februar 2019

cOf ourse this is a real post. OP has options, and he is going to get the cheaper price. He hasn't taken delivery yet.

It's sad that people who bought at higher price are pissed at those who can obtain the same car at lower price.

saikumar.gadde | 28. februar 2019

Hi casino, yes this is a real post. @openwheelracing88 thanks for the info. I hope I get the new pricing tomorrow.

hughbie | 28. februar 2019

But can I still get the EAP, and other stuff at the lower price . . . /s

dalanie1991 | 28. februar 2019

Good Luck! Please keep us updated saikumar - I'm in a similar situation but have no delivery scheduled yet.

ebmcs03 | 28. februar 2019

It’s totaly a real post I’m passed I paid more for the same long range car that can be had for $7,500 less right now. Never will I ever buy another Tesla. This crap pricing game they are playing is totally going to hurt them. Go bankrupt!

Mike UpNorth_ | 01. mars 2019

Bye.

82bert | 01. mars 2019

Trolls are in true form tonight.

Mike UpNorth_ | 01. mars 2019

Why do they always scream they're leaving yet they never actually leave ...

saikumar.gadde | 01. mars 2019

@82bert and @MikeUpNorth Just so to explain you some of our angst towards tesla and musk, my
1. RWD mid range (black + aero wheels + EAP) costs me 47,900 + tax.
2. New Long range RWD (black + aero wheels + AP) costs 46,000 + tax.
So, I can cancel my previous order and reorder at the cost of 48,500.

82bert | 01. mars 2019

I was referring more to ebmcs. He/she is a terrible troll. But he’s not the only one in full force tonight.

I get your issue and agree with seeing what you can do.

Mike UpNorth_ | 01. mars 2019

^ same as 82b

Wasn't referring to you....you and your issue seem legit...not impressed that you copy and pasted it around 5x all over the forum but I get your stressed/angst.
Again, contact T tomorrow. I think you'll be fine. IMO.

I’m on the same boat, but in Canada the difference between awd lr eap vs the new configuration w fsd is not much. More importantly, I want to know if EAP in the previous config = ESD ? They both have the same hardware? Is it a matter of software ?

Maxxer | 01. mars 2019

on canada everything is $12 000 more expensive than in US

EVRider | 01. mars 2019

You can return the car for a full refund and order a new one.

thedrisin | 01. mars 2019

@andrew. "In writing" means a revised purchase agreement.

guydude | 01. mars 2019

100% take advantage of the new pricing! Get the awd! Congrats on the free upgrade :)

Samfu | 01. mars 2019

@andrew Have you called Tesla or spoken to your delivery specialist maybe?

reed_lewis | 01. mars 2019

When I bought my Model 3 a month ago, the pricing was more expensive, but they lowered the price automatically when the price went down before I took delivery two weeks ago.

Check your tesla account and see if the new pricing has been applied already.

Of course if you have taken delivery, then you are out of luck.

saikumar.gadde | 01. mars 2019

Hi, When I called them today morning, I was told that they would adjust my price, but there is no change in the website.

TeslaMarque | 01. mars 2019

You definitely without a doubt can get the new pricing if you haven’t taken delivery. I would just mention to your DA that you noticed your configuration went down in price significantly and if they are like the one I had (when the performance Model was reduced by $5,000) they should update the pricing for you.

If for some reason they refuse, I would refuse to take delivery and cancel your order and reorder a new on at the reduced price. I would threaten to do this first to your DA, and I would be shocked if they didn’t update your current order, out of common sense if anything else. If they refuse to do so, call their bluff, cancel your order and order another one at the reduced rate.

Either way, if you haven’t taken delivery you golf all the cards and I wouldn’t take delivery in your situation either.

Don't trust them, bring a lawyer when you go to pick it up. (roll eyes).

ssphadnis | 01. mars 2019

Saikumar - things take time with Tesla. They will do the right thing (if only at the 11th hour). They will adjust price - lucky you for holding out!

Nexxus | 05. mars 2019

@saikumar.gadde, Well? Did you get it at the lower price? We're waiting...

j.nichol | 05. mars 2019

I don't think prices actually dropped for anything you could actually order before.

AP is not the same as EAP.

If you rebuild the car with FSD, it should be slightly more expensive than exactly the same build with EAP before, and all new deliveries are being given FSD functionality if they currently have EAP purchased.

Just cancel your current order and replace it with a new order if you need to see this first hand.
