GM just announced all vehicles to have OTA capability by 2023 at least a decade after TESLA. But Ford is now recalling 1.26M 2011-13 F150s for a transmission safety issue. But not to worry just bring it back in for a software update. The emissions impact — a 2012 F150 is rated at 17/23mpg. Let’s say average is 20mpg and assume owner to dealer roundtrip averages 20 miles. This translates up to 30,000 barrels of fuel burned by the fleet. Wonderful! Smokin’! No cheers for our legacy automakers.
