OK, so I am working on a project that a little further down the road will require an electric drive system. From my research I have discovered that the Tesla electric engine weigh 70lbs, and puts out 250-277 hp, and 200 ft-lbs of torque, very impressive, and this would be an extremely good fit for my project. However, price is always a factor, and to make this practical in the long run I need some ballpark numbers now. I know the car as a whole runs about $109k, I know the battery pack system runs about $40k... however, I am not in need of an entire car, or a battery. But for the life of me I cannot find the cost of just the engine itself. I would prefer to know the production cost of the motor (before Tesla takes its profit margin on it, I know their profit margin is pretty big considering its such a specialty car), but any info would be helpful
Thanks in advance.
