Just caught this on another site. For all the buyers who need the Roof Rack, equipment box and the doors.
This may be old news, but Tesla has not said otherwise.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure this is one of the multiple potential solutions to roof rack haulage for Tesla Model X that was shown in one of the many 'Falcon Wing Doors are EViL!' threads around here.
Won't work with a 10' kayak.
Yeah, that tiny little luggage bin could practically fit in the frunk. There was another mock-up that had the Falcon Wings only open part way which allowed for a full rack on top.
I like this one and think Tesla would be smart to offer it as an option. Sure, it wouldn't allow full use of the Falcon wings and the wings would get in the way of full access to the roof rack, but that's what a compromise is.
I have bad news regarding the simplest roof rack solution. It changes the geometry too much, and having two mechanisms, one for when the roof rack is on, and one for when it is not, would be too complicated. The space required for opening the doors with this solution would also be significantly larger, and while it may not require as much room as a conventional door, you will have less control if you discover you are too close to a car or object next to you.
Of course this is just my opinion so, please do not stop dreaming.

Regarding the issue of exiting the vehicle in a roll-over, my understanding is that in that scenario the hinges where the door articulates release.
why dont u break the windows if you do a rollover
Yeah, articulating windows have had breakaway functions for something like, decades... Check out any modern public bus or train.
