Emergency braking almost caused me to get rear ended

Had a situation in hand. Car disagreed. Applied greater braking force than necessary. Almost got me resr ended. I know you can disable it each ride. Can you do so permanently?

No, you can't disable it permanently, but what you can do is override it by pressing on the accelerator pedal when deemed necessary, like in your situation that got out of hand.

I don’t know if it’s possible. But what you describe has not ever happened to me in 30k miles of driving. And I’m a fairly aggressive follower. So I believe your situation may have been a rare unlucky outlier. May not be worth worrying about. The chance the feature will save you is better than the chance it will cause an accident. I say leave it be, Chewie. ( Glad you did not get hit. )

Exactly how did the car “disagree” with your assessment of the situation? The car would only brake if you failed to do so. Were you using TACC or are you referring to collision avoidance (Automatic Emergency Braking)?
