So with all of 2012 production already committed, how long will people be waiting for their car if they reserve today? Looks like close to the first quarter of 2013 will be booked by years end!

Mycroft | 2011年11月19日

Looks like it.

But if you're planning on optioning out the car anyway, then Signatures are still open. So you can still get a car in August or September yet.

@xhawk1011

"@David m, and @erntan agreed on a Tesla store here in Tampa! Yea charging up somewhere in alligator alley could be a real backwoods adventure. Looking forward to a ft Lauderdale visit for test drive though

Hi,

Welcome.

David, I and others are starting a SW Florida Tesla Motors Club. If you are interested please contact me at lfchanin@verizon.net.

In Iceland, you don't travel "as the crow flies". It's not autobahns and straight freeways over the horizon. The geography is, not to put too fine a point on it, lumpy. There's a lot of going around stuff. There's one main highway of 1,400 km+ circling the island, and some cross-mountain roads (closed till June each year). Most roads are gravel. Some are dirt. Pavement is mainly in the capital city.

Anyhow, rental companies do NOT like having to fetch stranded customers! I'd be very interested, actually, to see what kind of network and hookups that guy is planning.

Mycroft | 2011年11月20日

Me too. I'm curious about which battery pack he's going to choose.

If he can get Internet access to all the cars, then he can really take advantage of the computer tracking and control of the shared vehicles!

Because of their balance of trade, Iceland has huge import duties on cars. I wonder if he's able to get those tariffs waived because of the ability to run the cars without using imported petrol.

Mycroft | 2011年11月21日

We broke 700 Sigs! That means that if the Signature Special List is added to the Sig numbers, then we're down to the last 100 Sigs available.

As a side note, Iceland's power is about 70% hydro, 30% geothermal. Which makes sense, since it's all (new, leaky) mountains, separated by geysers.

David M. | 2011年11月22日

Unless I'm mistaken, that's 724 reservations from Oct. 20 to Nov. 20. That's really amazing, even considering the aftermath of the factory event, and new stores opening.

What will the new (monthly) normal be over the next 6 months? 550, 650, 750, or more? Will there be another 5,000 reservations before production begins (mid 2012)? Will 2013 be sold out before 1/1/13 ?
WOW!

Peak Oil bruin | 2011年11月22日

David, based on your summary/projectiom I just added 20% to my TSLA holdings. If this Euro US debt contagion simmers, TSLA should soon be sizzling above 36!

Brian H | 2011年11月22日

David;
I betcha $1 that the reservations number by mid-2012 is up by 10K over present. Don't forget, the "books" will be open for Model X reservations, too.

Brian H | 2011年11月22日

I've reconsidered. Make that 15K.

MichiganModelS must be on vacation for TGiving. Someone in the "Where will your Model S reside?" thread posted P6000, and I'm guessing the big shopping weekend that we had brought many new eyeballs into high end malls where Tesla has stores, which added lots of new reservations. Perhaps we'll be at 8,500 by the end of the month?

No, just to the last page. Scrolling is optional. ;)

jcadman22 | 2011年11月28日

General Production #6000 was reserved at the Washington, DC show room during the Model S tour on Saturday. They even threw in a free Tesla insulated mug :-)

EdG | 2011年11月28日

In the spirit of this forum - reading into everything for every scrap of information - I wonder about the mug. :)

They didn't give me one for the Signature reservation. Does this imply options will cost more for the Sig? How much will a Signature Mug cost?
We haven't heard about these mugs before. Is Tesla succumbing to advertising now? I guess they're starting small.
The mug is insulated. I guess this means they have no intention of putting in a drink cooler/heater option. :(

Volker.Berlin | 2011年11月28日

The mug is insulated. I guess this means they have no intention of putting in a drink cooler/heater option. (EdG)

To the contrary: They give away this mug so you can enjoy hot/cool beverage now, even in your old car, while still waiting for your Model S with cooling/heating cup holders included! :-)

Rumbles | 2011年11月29日

Frankly, I am very disappointed in the interior of the mug. The outside is great but if they don't change the interior, I am going to have to reconsider my whole reservation. ;)

michiganmodels | 2011年11月29日

@jcadman22 - what were the color options of your mug? I reserved a Signature Mug; however, I may withdraw my reservation if the Signature mug does not come in Blue.

Also, did your mug come with a panoramic lid? If so, what was the panoramic lid pricing? I'm also considering the optional child sippy-cup lid, but once my kids out grow the sippy-cups, this feature may be useless to me.

I really hope Tesla announces the mug option prices soon.

@Edg - Well played, sir :-)

Volker.Berlin | 2011年12月2日

Have a look at your "My Tesla" page... Seems that they overhauled their reservation numbering scheme. I'm not yet sure what that means, and how it maps to our tracking lists here.

I have the impression that they changed to a single global list, away from regional lists. What particularly strikes me is that I was one of the first reservation holder in Europe and also globally (I reserved 3 or 4 days after the books were opened), and with the new reservation numbering scheme I went from my former P1(EU) spot to something in the 4-thousands... Hm. This may still be a fair indication of when I will receive my car, since the first few months worth of production are US-bound.

mcornwell | 2011年12月2日

I've gone from P2747 to #RN020092...

ThomasN | 2011年12月2日

I've gone from sig 270 to unknown. As in the image of the white model s is no longer there. All I have displaying is a membership #...

Timo | 2011年12月2日

Reserve Number 20092? 20k would be quite a bit higher than tally says :-P

EdG | 2011年12月2日

My number is now related only, I guess, to the order in which I signed up for this forum. No mention of where I stand in the list.

It is in keeping with the "Mystery of the Forum". Like some 1940s spy movie (think: "And Then There Were None") things keep happening and we're all trying to make sense of it. We know there's someone watching and controlling things, but we don't even get echoes to our calls.

The difference is that we're all expecting more positive news as delivery time nears.

Volker.Berlin | 2011年12月2日

My RN# (new scheme) seems to be unrelated to my forum member#.

Robert.Boston | 2011年12月2日

And I went from US P#1635 to RN010331.

I'm guessing that the first two digits are the year in which the reservation was made, and then it's sequential after that (within the year).

I also notice that there's a big red UPDATE button below my reservation number. Only costs $35,000 to push it...

Robert.Boston | 2011年12月2日

oops, should have said UPGRADE button....

Volker.Berlin | 2011年12月2日

I tried to push it (merely out of curiosity). Did not work.

Volker.Berlin | 2011年12月2日

I'm guessing that the first two digits are the year in which the reservation was made, and then it's sequential after that (within the year). (Robert.Boston)

Hm, let's see. Based on the numbers we have seen above, that would be:
- 00: 2009 (myself)
- 01: 2010 (Robert.Boston)
- 02: 2011 (mcornwell)

Weird encoding, but may be true (unless/until someone can post a number that proves otherwise).

Mycroft | 2011年12月2日

That's because the hidden puppeteer looked in your bank acct and deemed it unworthy. :-D

Volker.Berlin | 2011年12月2日

That scheme seems to be extremely short sighted though. It stops working as soon as there are more than 9999 reservations per year... not too far fetched, I'd say! I'm not saying that Tesla is short sighted. I'd rather think that Robert's interpretation with "year encoding" is unlikely to be correct.

SLeser | 2011年12月2日

I went from #14 Swiss Signature list to #RN031457

I hope we will find a way the break the "code", but I'm sure they used some kind of random number to make it impossible to track reservations, as we did in the past.

No upgrade-button here, because I allready have a Signature Reservation.

Volker.Berlin | 2011年12月2日

That's because the hidden puppeteer looked in your bank acct and deemed it unworthy. :-D (Mycroft)

I agree. :-) But then again, why does the hidden puppeteer show that button in the first place? Room for improvement in any case. But let's get the interior straight, first! ;-)
