Tesla Bike

Anyone know if tesla motors have considered building an electric bike (or trike)?
Also, was daydreaming about an electric outboard - powerboating would be way different without the twostroke fumes and noise.
Honda make cars, bikes, outboards,... why can't Tesla.

Not gonna happen.

You talking about a motorcycle? They have already said they are not going to, and really it makes sense. There are already several companies serving the electric motorcycle market well (Zero in particular) so that's not something Tesla needs to push their way into. But full sized car and SUV vehicles is something where Tesla is creating the market, and has their plate very full.

Perhaps. Or maybe they mean an electric bicycle...

Not in the foreseeable future. But the future we don't yet see, who knows.

Energica is an Italian company coming from the CRP group, and the Ego will be the first Italian made fully electric bike. Specs show that the Ego can travel up to 240 km/h (150 mph) and travel up to 150 km (93 miles) on a single charge, accelerating from 0-100 mph in just 3 seconds. Nice. 3d printing service INDIA

The all electric zero emissions Ego will be available for purchase in early 2015 at a price of $25,000. Not bad for a slice of the driving future.

The 3D printing aspect on this bike is no gimmick. The entire bike is rendered into a 3-D computer model part by part. Then using a carbon reinforced polyamide material manufactured by CRP Group and Windform, the 3D printers replicate the part layer by layer. The 3D printed material is stress, oil, and water-resistant, and the parts are not just to show off in prototypes either; these are actual consumer and road ready production parts. The technology is used on the Ego to create fairings, headlight covers, and motorcycle components separately from the mechanical and electrical parts.

Additionally, 3D printing allows parts to be scanned into a computer, generate a 3-D computer file, and print out that part in the polyamide material a use that as a mold that can then be metalized and cast, though, 3D printing metal is already in its infancy.

3D printed electric bikes — I love the future.

I recently spent $5000 for a Carbon fiber mountain bike. I don't believe I want Electric assist since I like exercise and don't want the added weight.
But for those who want it there are kits you can add to your regular bicycle. Lightweight lithium batteries could be utilized from the Gigafactorys but I want my PowerWalls first.

@3dtechnology2015, I about choked when I saw that $25,000 price, but it is a very high level electric motorcycle. Let's compare to the Zero SR 13kwh motorcycle:

Ego specs first, then Zero

top speed 150mph 102mph
range 93 miles 98 miles

On the acceleration, I'm pretty sure you got the units wrong. There is no way it goes 0 to 100 mph in 3 seconds. That's probably 0 to 100 kmph, which many countries use, and is almost equivalent to the 0 to 60 mph.
acceleration 3 seconds 3.3 seconds
price $25,000 $15,995

So yeah, the Ego does beat the Zero on top speed, but has a little less range, but it's $25,000 versus $16,000 before any tax credits. That's about $9K more for hardly any difference.

And yes, there are 5 dealers of Zero motorcycles in Italy already.

Try BESV.com. I really like the JS1.

@3dtechnology2015 Wow, cool - that's what I'm talking about. But of course, they need to follow the Tesla model and work on a $3500 version for the masses.

(Yes, meant 'Motorcycle'. We call them 'Bikes' in New Zealand (one syllable vs 4). Sometimes we call them Motorbikes (2 syllables). Then we have push-bikes which are either Mountain Bikes or Road Bikes. All very confusing to the uninitiated...)

After the Model 3, what comes next? I was looking at one of those three-wheeler motorcycles the other day thinking it's design could easily be adapted for an electric motor, with direct drive to it's pair of wheels. It would fly.

In India and other developing nations, where they make a lot of pollution on heavily congested roads, electric motorcycles and three-wheelers could be a more popular choice and more practical option.

Also, I don't see anybody producing an awesome high-powered electric outboard. For this, I imagined a direct drive arrangement would work really well too. Basically just attach a prop directly to the motor. The assembly would be submersed - no big top heavy motor sticking up at the back of the boat. The greatest thing would be how quiet it would be - you could do 35 knots and also talk to each other. Plus with no fumes you could safely cook on the boat.

If you really want something that can blow your mind with performance try the Lightning LS218 motorcycle. With 200hp and 168 ft lbs torque and a top speed is 218mph it holds the world record as the fastest production motorbike of any kind. It also has 200 mile range.

Take a look at what http://gogoro.com is doing in Taiwan. Introducing electric scooters with swappable batteries. Not as high-performance as Zero... but being introduced in cities with massive scooter populations--and scooter pollution.

Damn, India again? lol. Nope, Tesla is extremely busy with things it has in its hands as of now. It's major goal is the delivery of Model X to its customers and then the production of Model 3. Trucks, bikes, boats etc can come later when Tesla has become a company like BMW or GM.

Ankit Mishra | 2016年2月9日

Hey, its my opinion only. I hope my comment doesn't come as too strong or imposing. I maybe wrong. Also, thanks for being positive about Tesla. Also, I am not defensive about India, was just making my point. Cheers!!

Darn, I was hoping the next BIG thing Elon was going to do was a garbage and leaf eating machine that would also produce some kind of energy brick in the process. Maybe next week ):.......

I also have not been able to frequently meet users of Tesla motorcycles. However, they are not so bad, it's all about the mainstream. Everyone is used to ride on familiar brands. You could purchase an inexpensive motorcycle and draw conclusions to get you started, but be sure to contact https://www.faxvin.com/vin-check/motorcycle before purchasing. The VIN check should be "transparent" and without accidents.

marlinputnam8745 | 2019年3月20日

Tesla is more dedicated in making electric cars, they are not going to introduce any electric bike or trike, but other automobile companies like Audi is going to introduce electric bicycle.

reed_lewis | 2019年3月21日

Elon said in one meeting that Tesla would never create a motorcycle because he almost died on one.
