gesture and eye controlled holographic display

Tesla hired the lead designer for the Porsche Mission E’s interior.

Porsche description of the holographic display from the Electrek article:
"The upper layer integrates the driver’s display, and between the levels there is a holographic display that extends far into the passenger’s side. It shows individually selectable apps, which are stacked in virtual space and arranged by priority with a three-dimensional effect. The driver – or passenger – can use these apps to touch-free control primary functions such as media, navigation, climate control, contacts and vehicle. The desired symbol is activated by gestures that are detected by sensors. A grasping gesture means select, while pulling means control."

How well would holograms work in the ever changing lighting conditions in a moving car?

Woo-hoo! Mass Effect's holographic control systems can't be far away! I'm still not buying an Apple branded OmniTool, though...

My arm gets tired just thinking about having to wave it around in the air to do things. I rather liked the mock up of the Porsche interior where one of the control screen was almost horizontal and looked like you could just rest your arm on the arm rest and use your fingers to manipulate the controls.
